Dear IFIP TC6 members,
The Annals of Telecommunications is ranked 46 in the Journal Citation Report. This is an indexed Journal by ISI. This Journal is 60 years old and was one of the best Journal in Telecommunications for a long time but when French was a strong language. Now the Journal is in English (except very few papers in French). One of the objective of this Journal is to definitely come back on the international scene and for that the Journal would like a support from IFIP TC6. I think this Journal is not in competition with the potential IFIP TC6 Journal but complementary (say would like to be like IEEE Com Mag in comparison with some IEEE Transactions). Moreover, the same editor could be envisaged with the IFIP TC6 Journal but this is another story.
This message is to invite some members of the TC6 to become guest editor for a special issue on any subject of interest within the TC6.
Let me know if some are interested in and on what subject. The special issue would appear in the second part of 2007 (all the issues are now full until this date).
Best regards,
Guy

Dear Guy,
Unfortunately I will not be able to attend Autonomic Networking because
this week I am committed to give a course in the Universite Paul Sabatier
of Toulouse. So I cannot be session chairman. However I will attend the TC6
meeting.
I am looking forward to meeting you in Santiago.
Best regards
Ramon
> Dear IFIP TC6 members,
> I have now to attribute the chair positions for the sessions of Autonomic
Networkingconférence (4 positions are available). Autonomic Networking 06
is the join conference ofIWAN, WAC, IntelComm and SmartNet. Let me know if
you are interested in such achairpersonship.
>
> As one of the flagship conference of TC6, you are invited to register in
this conferencethrough the web site.
> During the meeting in Paris just after the conference we will have to
discuss of the nextAutonomic Networking conference (I get some informal
demands to organize the conference in2007) or to come back to individual
conference or continue AN and WAC and IWAN in parallelor any other possibility.

> Finally, I had no answer at all on the following message (below is the
interesting part ofthe message). The ACF meeting will take place during the
confernce in Paris, just 2 daysbefore the TC6 meeting. I think this is an
important issue to discuss in Santiago for thepreliminary meeting of the
TC6. So, if you have some comments please let us know.

> ACF (Autonomic Networking Forum) is a forum created two years ago. There
are 600 members.Radu Popescu Zeletin is at the head of this consortium. One
of the potential proposal thatcould be an output of the ACF meeting in
Paris during the Autonomic Networking Conferencecould be to propose to
become a Working Group of the IFIP. This WG focus could be on
thenormalization of AC interfaces and environment (this is an output of
discussions held sometime ago in a conference in Mykonos). So the TC6 could
propose officially this solutionand let the ACF continues its very strong
work within the TC6 with a large freedom. Thiscould be a strong action of
the TC6.

Call for Papers
1st IEEE International Workshop on Bandwidth on Demand (BoD 2006)
http://www.csg.unizh.ch/events/bod06/
In conjunction with IEEE GLOBECOM 2006
http://www.ieee-globecom.org/2006/
November 27, 2006
San Francisco, California, USA
Scope
Electronic marketplaces for trading bandwidth have emerged since the
late 1990’s, but were seriously hit by the economic downturn in 2001.
The promise of instant bandwidth availability had led to the development
of market mechanisms that companies used to trade bandwidth just as
other commodities. However, those trading markets all but disappeared
with the bursting of the telecom bubble. Driven by the recent technical
advances in telecommunications and the new potentials of emerging
peer-to-peer (P2P) and next generation networks (NGN), the goal of this
workshop is to take a fresh and innovative look at the concept of
bandwidth on demand (BOD).
Recent advances in the Internet-based communications domain, in which
the support of Quality-of-Service and diverse application services
become possible, require in many cases short-termed bandwidth
assignments for, e.g., large sporting events or cultural open air
activities. In addition, the support of bandwidth trading in a fully
decentralized and secured manner, e.g., based on P2P schemes, shows
further advantages in terms of reliability and scalability for
large-scale systems.
Topics of Interest
The workshop seeks original papers in the following four areas that
serve as basis for bandwidth on demand:
* Economic studies and modeling of market and business models in carrier
and service provider networks
o Game theoretical bandwidth-on-demand models
o Cost and revenue models
o Bandwidth-on-demand business models
o Market liquidity aspects
* Technical design of scalable, reliable, and cost-effective bandwidth
trading infrastructures, including market mechanisms as a way to
increase efficiencies
o Scalable market mechanisms
o Secure and reliable market infrastructures
o Bandwidth trading mechanisms
o IP-based and decentralized trading mechanisms
o P2P trading infrastructures, distributed markets
o P2P auctions
* Legislative and regulatory issues related to the Telecom Act and in
comparison to other commodities markets such as the electric grid
o Telecom legislation
o Telecom regulation
o Commodities markets
* Industrial developments of new technologies that facilitate or create
impediments to bandwidth on demand
o Network management aspects
o Technical improvements in transport and data networks
Paper Submissions
Papers are solicited as full papers (in English), of no more than 8
single-spaced pages, each of which will be subject to a full review
process.
Submissions must be in PDF and will be handled using the JEMS system.

CALL FOR PAPERS
************ T R I D E N T C O M 2 0 0 7 ************
Third International IEEE/Create-Net Conference on
Test beds and Research Infrastructures for the
Development of Networks and Communities
February 5-8, 2006, Orlando, Florida USA
http://www.tridentcom.org
------------------------------------------------------
************ IMPORTANT DEADLINES ********************
------------------------------------------------------
Paper Submission Due: August 31, 2006
Demo Proposals Due: September 30, 2006
Notification: October 31, 2006
Final manuscript Due: November 30, 2006
------------------------------------------------------
SCOPE
------------------------------------------------------
Telecommunication infrastructures play a vital role in
modern society. Advances in the range of network service
offerings, performance, quality of service, security, and
ubiquity continue to flourish, despite global economy
fluctuations. Access to experimental infrastructures for
real-life applications by specific user communities benefits
all of the stakeholders involved: the end users,
because of the first-hand evaluation of the provided
services, the researchers and infrastructure experimenters,
because of the knowledge gained from hands-on study and
analysis, and the service providers, because of the
business exploitation of the network. The goal of
TridentCom is to create a forum where telecommunication
networks researchers, vendors, providers and users can
exchange ideas on past experience, requirements, needs,
and visions for future establishment of such infrastructures.
It showcases experimental activities, such as testing,
verification, integration, measurement, and deployment,
which are pivotal to achieving next generation communications.
PAPER SUBMISSION
------------------------------------------------------
Prospective authors are invited to submit high quality
papers as well as demonstration proposals reporting on all
aspects of test bed and research infrastructure operation and
management, including, but not limited to:
