ICNP is a highly selective conference dealing with all aspects of
communication protocols including design, specification, analysis
and verification, implementation, application, and performance. The
program consists of a full day of tutorials followed by a single
3-day track of peer-reviewed papers, including a limited number of
invited talks and panels. This year marks the 10th time the
conference has been held.
High-quality papers dealing with any aspect of network protocols are
solicited for submission to the conference. Topics of particular
interest include, but are not limited to: routing protocols,
peer-to-peer and overlay protocols and applications, wireless and
mobile networks, security, multimedia, web, electronic commerce,
home networking, distributed gaming, QoS, signaling, network
management, flow and congestion control, and active/programmable
networks.
Selected top papers from ICNP 2002 will be forwarded to IEEE/ACM
Transactions on Networking for possible publication. In addition,
this year for the first time a "Best Paper Award" will be given
to the outstanding paper presented at the conference.

SUBMISSION OF PAPERS
Paper can be submitted by email to lanc2002(a)uib.es or upload electronically to the web site of the conference:

Papers are invited on the conference theme and related topics. Authors must state that their paper have neither
been published before nor currently being submitted elsewhere.
Full papers should:
- be no longer than 15 single spaced pages, including tables, diagrams and pictures using a font size of 12
points or larger, or
- follow the styles shown at the conference URL: http://www.uib.es/congres/lanc2002.
The first page must contain an abstract of about 150 words, name and affiliation of author(s) as well as the lead
author's postal address, telephone number, fax number and e-mail.
Accepted papers will be included in the conference proceedings and will be distributed to the attendees at the
conference.
The language of the conference is English and papers must be in this language.
TUTORIALS
We solicit proposals for half/full day tutorial courses outlining the subject area, describing level, goal and
orientation and a short biography of the speaker(s).

20th Brazilian Symposium on Computer Networks - SBRC'2002

The Brazilian Symposium on Computer Networks (SBRC) is promoted annually by the Brazilian Computing Society (SBC) and by the National Computer Network Laboratory (LARC). Over the years, SBRC has become the most important Brazilian discussion forum for researchers and professionals within the fields of Computer Networks and Distributed Computing, and one of the major events on informatics in Brazil. The large number of annually submitted papers (over 150) and participants (over 700) of the last years is an indication of the importance devoted by our community to SBRC.
Besides the presentation of selected papers, SBRC'2002 will provide invited talks and tutorials given by distinguished scientists, as well as short courses, panels, and other activities.
Paper Submission:
Authors are invited to submit papers reporting research, experiments, design and development results. The major topics of interest include (but are not limited to): specification, verification, implementation, modelling and testing of distributed systems and protocols; high speed networks; internet (protocols, services, and applications); quality of service (QoS); computer and telecommunication networks management; security; mobile computing; mobile agents; wireless communication; middleware; multimedia distributed systems; real time distributed systems; fault tolerance; performance evaluation; distributed algorithms; and interoperable systems.
The papers should be either written in English or Portuguese and the text should not exceed 16 pages, including abstract, figures, diagrams, bibliography, etc (figures in bitmap format should be avoided). The page format should be A4 (29.7 x 21.0 cm), font size 12 pts, Times, lateral margins 2.5 cm, upper margin 3.0 cm, lower margin 2.5 cm, single column page with no more than 45 lines. Submissions should be in Postscript (generic postscript) or PDF (a format created by Acrobat) and directed to the Symposium Web's Page http://www.nce.ufrj.br/sbrc/ or, alternatively, to http://www.lasid.ufba.br/eventos/sbrc2002/.

GOALS OF THE CONFERENCE
International Conference on Multimedia & Expo (ICME) is a major annual
international conference organized with the objective of bringing together
researchers, developers and practitioners from academia and industry
working in all areas of multimedia. ICME serves as a forum for the
dissemination of state-of-the-art research, development, and implementations
of multimedia systems, technologies and applications.
Co-sponsored by four IEEE societies (the Circuits and Systems Society,
the Communications Society, the Computer Society and the Signal Processing
Society) the third edition of ICME will be held in Lausanne, Switzerland.
INSTRUCTIONS AND TOPICS
Authors should submit a four-page manuscript in double-column format
including authors' names, affiliations and a short abstract. Only electronic
submission will be accepted. Submissions have to be made through the
conference Web site: http://www.icme2002.org.
A sample of the papers presented at the conference will be selected for a
possible publication in an upcoming special issue of IEEE Transactions on
Multimedia. There will also be a student best paper award as well as a
best paper award.

The SIGCOMM 2002 conference seeks papers describing significant research
contributions to the field of computer and data communication networks.
Authors are invited to submit full papers concerned with the theory, practice,
and evaluation of networks. We are especially interested in innovative and
thought-provoking ideas across a wide range of topics related to networking.
NEW THIS YEAR: SIGCOMM 2002 solicits submissions of "position papers"
articulating high-level architectural visions, describing challenging future
directions, or critiquing current design wisdom. Accepted position papers will
be presented at the conference and appear in the proceedings. In addition,
SIGCOMM 2002 is open to proposals for panel discussions on timely and
controversial topics. Panel proposals should include the topic and motivation
for the panel, the names of the panel chair and panelists, and an outline of
the format of the panel discussion.
Areas of interest include:
o Network protocols
o Algorithms, protocols, and systems for routing, switching, and signaling
o Network resource management and sharing, quality of service, operating system
support for networking
o Wireless, mobile, and pervasive networking, networking with specialized
devices and sensors

o Lessons about network scalability, insights and models of the structure and
behavior of communication networks
Tutorials
SIGCOMM 2002 will feature two days of full-day and half-day tutorials covering
single topics in detail, at both the introductory or advanced level. Proposals
should be sent to the Tutorials Chair and must include an extended abstract
(2-4 pages) containing a description of the topic and intended audience, a
biography of the speaker(s), and an indication of length. Individuals
interested in submitting tutorial proposals are encouraged to contact the
Tutorials Chair before the deadline to discuss the proposed content.
Student Paper Award
Papers submitted by students may be considered for a student paper award. To be
eligible, a student or group of students must be primary contributors to the
paper. Such papers should be indicated as such on the paper submission web
page.
SIGCOMM Award
SIGCOMM 2002 will begin with a keynote by the 2002 winner of the ACM SIGCOMM
Award for lifetime contributions to the field of computer communication.
Procedures for nominating candidates for the SIGCOMM Award can be obtained from
Craig Partridge (craig(a)bbn.com).
As in previous years, SIGCOMM 2002 will have a poster session and student
