Dear all,
the IFIP treasurer (Dipak Khakhar, email see below) has presented
the TC budgets (see annex) and in particular the DCSC (developing country
support committee) funds for 2005.
*** If a TC6 conference wants to get a support from DCSC
then the organisor should send a request as soon as possible
to Dipak (deadline August 16) with a copy to me. ***
DCSC could be interesting for (at least) the following conferences in 2005:
Working Conference on Networking for Metropolitan Area Networks;
Working Conference on Electronic Government
WG 6.2 + 6.11;
March 28 - 31, 2005; Ho-Chi-Minh City (Vietnam);
Open Conference; 7th Conference on Mobile and Wireless Communications
Networks (MWCN'05)
WG6.2 + WG6.8 + IEEE
Fall, 2005; Marrakesh (Morocco);
Email contact: Hamid Aghvami
Best regards

Dear TC6 members,
The deadline for hotel registration in Libon ended yesterday. I managed to
get an extension of that deadline until September 13th. Please remember that
the hotel cannot guarantee rooms after that date. I would thank also that
those of you who come to the Lisbon meeting, but are not staying in the
Melia Hotel, please let me know.
Best regards
Augusto
Dear TC6 members,
Enclosed is a list of hotels around either the conference or the TC6 meeting place.
All the hotels are located in the center of Paris and are close to the metro line 10 that serves either Rue des Ecoles (metro Odeon) for the AN'06 conference, or the IFIP meeting place (metro La Motte Piquet Grenelle):
Room Gerard Noguez, 7th floor
8 rue du Capitaine Scott
75015 Paris
(Access : http://www.lip6.fr/Laboratoire/acces.html )
For Otto Spaniol: Due to the paralelism between the AN'2006 conference and the working group meeting, is it possible to consider to begin the meeting on Friday 2:00pm and finish the meeting by Saturday end of the afternoon? This will permit to participate in the morning session of Friday?
The TC6 dinner will be Friday evening. As the ticket price is much better when spending a saturday night, this should be possible.
Best regards,
Guy

Dear all,
thank you very much for the first informations received
concerning your attendance or non-attendance.
A remark about the hotels:
I have attached the list which was provided by Guy Pujolle.
Apparently this list is not identical to the list for
the AN'06 conference.
Guy's list might be a subset of hotels which are convenient
both for the conference and for the meeting which are at different
places.
If you should have already booked a room in a hotel from the AN´06 list
which is not on Guy's list then you might probably keep this
reservation since the metro system in Paris is so convenient
that it will be easy (and quite fast) to reach both the
conference and the meeting location from anywhere in Paris
(and even from Paris Banlieue).
Best wishes
Otto

Proposals for Tutorial and Panel Sessions are also being solicited.
Tutorials (half-day or full-day sessions) are intended to provide in-depth
learning on a specific topic of interest to the participants.
Panel sessions are 60 minutes long. They present leaders in a particular
area discussing a topic of interest within the scope of the symposium.
Proposals for Tutorials and Panel sessions should consist of 1000 words
summary, a 150 word abstract, and a cover page listing the details of the
author(s). For further details, please contact either the Tutorial Chair,
Prof. Xiaoyan Hong (hxy(a)cs.ua.edu), or Panel Chair, Prof. Wilson Rivera
(wrivera(a)ece.uprm.edu).

BEST PAPER AWARD INLCUDED
Advances in technology have made deployment of miniature sensors a realistic proposition. Low-power, inexpensive smart devices with multiple on-board sensors are connected through wireless links so as to form a collaborative sensor network to perform a
specific task. As a result, it opens up a new paradigm of ubiquitous computing and enables a range of applications that are previously unrealizable or too costly to be realized. However, given the limitation of on-board hardware, one of the key areas
towards achieving superior performance is through software implementation. The workshop is intended to bring together industry experts and researchers to share novel techniques, algorithms and software implementation for sensor networks, and to discuss
the current status, technical challenges, standards, fundamental issues, and future services and applications in the form of panels and technical presentation. Topics of interest include but are not limited to the following:
1. Operating System
2. Efficient algorithms
3. Protocol design considerations
4. Performance analysis
5. Performance related issues
6. Cross-layered design considerations
7. Sensor applications and their impact on sensor network architectures
8. Deployment issues and scenarios
