ABOUT ITA
Brazil's most selective Engineering school, ITA accepts
yearly only about 150 students out of more than 8000 applicants.
ITA is one of the few schools in Brazil that recruits students
nationally and offers a residential campus where most students
and faculty live. All students receive full scholarship from the
Brazilian government. ITA's rigorous undergraduate programs are
5 years long and lead directly to professional degrees in
Aeronautical, Electronics, Computer, Mechanical, or Civil
Engineering. Average scores of ITA Electronics and Computer
Engineering students in national comprehensive examinations
for graduating engineers have consistently been the highest
in Brazil.
ITA was founded in 1950 as the initial institute in Brazil's
Aerospace Technical Center (CTA), Latin America's largest
research center. CTA's planner and ITA's first provost was
Richard H. Smith, who previously headed the Aeronautics department
at MIT. ITA was the first institution to offer Aeronautical and
Electronics Engineering degrees and post-graduate degrees in
Brazil. Embraer, now the world's leading regional-jet manufacturer,
was spun off from ITA in 1969. ITA/CTA research in the 1970s is
also behind Brazil's highly successful renewable-energy program.
A majority of cars now sold in Brazil can use ethanol as fuel.
ITA pioneered Computer Science in Brazil with the construction
of the first computer in 1961 and Tercio Pacitti's best-selling
books on numerical methods in the 1960s and 1970s (he would
become ITA's provost in 1982). Computer Engineering was
organized as an independent ITA department in 1989.

CALL FOR PAPERS
3rd IEEE International Workshop on Networking Issues
in Multimedia Entertainment (NIME'07)
CCNC 2007 - Satellite Workshop
January 11 2007, Las Vegas, Nevada, USA
Sponsored by the IEEE Communications Society

October 10, 2006 Camera-ready Copy
October 8, 2006 Author Registration Deadline
January 11, 2007 Workshop date
The growing availability of digital contents and the simultaneous cost
reductions in storage, processing, and networking is driving the
growth of
the entertainment technology. While in the past entertainment technology
traditionally offered predominantly passive experiences, continual
advances in network and computer technologies are providing tools for
implementing greater interactivity and for enabling consumers to enjoy
more exciting experiences, such as, for example, interactive digital TV,
interactive theatre and orchestrated music and sound design. This
phenomenon is pulling together an extremely diverse group of experts
specializing in different technical areas, such as networking, computer
graphics, artificial intelligence, games, animation, multimedia design,
human-computer interaction, educational media and software engineering.
Even though high-tech entertainment promotes interdisciplinary
fusion, yet
only the ubiquity of wireless/wired communication is considered suitable
for accepting the challenge of building a large interactive environment
for the delivery of the maximum entertainment value to millions of
consumers worldwide. In this respect, there is a great hope that the
wired
and wireless may take over this complex scenario for fulfilling the
consumer expectations. The third IEEE International Workshop on
Networking
Issues in Multimedia Entertainment provides an open forum for
researchers,
engineers and academia to exchange the latest technical information and
research findings on next-generation networked multimedia concepts,
technologies, systems, and applications for entertainment covering

Dear IFIP TC6 members,
I have now to attribute the chair positions for the sessions of Autonomic Networking conférence (4 positions are available). Autonomic Networking 06 is the join conference of IWAN, WAC, IntelComm and SmartNet. Let me know if you are interested in such a chairpersonship.
As one of the flagship conference of TC6, you are invited to register in this conference through the web site.
During the meeting in Paris just after the conference we will have to discuss of the next Autonomic Networking conference (I get some informal demands to organize the conference in 2007) or to come back to individual conference or continue AN and WAC and IWAN in parallel or any other possibility.
Autonomic Networking 2006, Paris 27 to 29 September 2006

Finally, I had no answer at all on the following message (below is the interesting part of the message). The ACF meeting will take place during the confernce in Paris, just 2 days before the TC6 meeting. I think this is an important issue to discuss in Santiago for the preliminary meeting of the TC6. So, if you have some comments please let us know.
Best regards,
Guy

Subject: News + ACF
ACF (Autonomic Networking Forum) is a forum created two years ago. There are 600 members. Radu Popescu Zeletin is at the head of this consortium. One of the potential proposal that could be an output of the ACF meeting in Paris during the Autonomic Networking Conference could be to propose to become a Working Group of the IFIP. This WG focus could be on the normalization of AC interfaces and environment (this is an output of discussions held some time ago in a conference in Mykonos). So the TC6 could propose officially this solution and let the ACF continues its very strong work within the TC6 with a large freedom. This could be a strong action of the TC6.

CALL FOR PAPER
2nd International Workshop on Software for Sensor Networks (SensorWare)
To be held with Comsware 2007 ([ http://www.comsware.org ]www.comsware.org)
8th January 2007, Bangalore India
www.sensorware.org
Advances in technology have made deployment of miniature sensors a realistic proposition. Low-power, inexpensive smart devices with multiple on-board sensors are connected through wireless links so as to form a collaborative sensor network to perform a
specific task. As a result, it opens up a new paradigm of ubiquitous computing and enables a range of applications that are previously unrealizable or too costly to be realized. However, given the limitation of on-board hardware, one of the key areas
towards achieving superior performance is through software implementation. The workshop is intended to bring together industry experts and researchers to share novel techniques, algorithms and software implementation for sensor networks, and to discuss
the current status, technical challenges, standards, fundamental issues, and future services and applications in the form of panels and technical presentation. Topics of interest include but are not limited to the following:
1. Operating System
2. Efficient algorithms
3. Protocol design considerations
4. Performance analysis
5. Performance related issues
6. Cross-layered design considerations
7. Sensor applications and their impact on sensor network architectures
8. Deployment issues and scenarios
9. Middleware
10. Sensor network security
11. Sensor network design and modeling
