Dear all,
the IFIP treasurer (Dipak Khakhar, email see below) has presented
the TC budgets (see annex) and in particular the DCSC (developing country
support committee) funds for 2005.
*** If a TC6 conference wants to get a support from DCSC
then the organisor should send a request as soon as possible
to Dipak (deadline August 16) with a copy to me. ***
DCSC could be interesting for (at least) the following conferences in 2005:
Working Conference on Networking for Metropolitan Area Networks;
Working Conference on Electronic Government
WG 6.2 + 6.11;
March 28 - 31, 2005; Ho-Chi-Minh City (Vietnam);
Open Conference; 7th Conference on Mobile and Wireless Communications
Networks (MWCN'05)
WG6.2 + WG6.8 + IEEE
Fall, 2005; Marrakesh (Morocco);

Kopie: Eduard Dundler <eduard.dundler(a)ifip.or.at>
Dear members of the IFIP family,
we are glad to inform you that a first (experimental)
version of IFIP Digital Library (DL) is available from (new)
IFIP website. It is the mission of IFIP DL to support a
free and non-restrictive flow of communication from IFIP
to its members and fellows, hence IFIP DL shall finally
contain all IFIP Publications for FREE access and free
download (the database will suitably be updated). For those
publications under the Springer contract, a reference to
SpringerLink will be included from where you can then
freely access the related conference proceedings.
As Publication Committee will analyse the operation and
further requirements for IFIP DL, as well as business models
how to cover the costs, it would be very helpful if you report
your impressions, findings and suggestions to Publication
Committee Chair, Prof. Joe Turner (turner(a)cs.clemson.edu).
Based on a related suggestion of Publications Committee, a
decision on IFIP DL will be taken at GA-2006 in Santiago de Chile.
Concerning malfunctions, please report them to Eduard Dundler in
IFIP secretariat, and we will try to correct them ASAP.
You will find "experimental (IFIP) Digital Library"
on the IFIP website (top, right side): http://www.ifip.org.
Best regards: Klaus Brunnstein (June 29, 2006)

Dear all,
please receive attached the report of the IFIP Strategy Meeting in
London. This report is meant as a discussion document for GA 2006.
Please send your comments to me and/or to Leon Strous (strous(a)iae.nl)
well before the GA meeting (which will be held after WCC 2006
(August 21-25, 2006).

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES
Location is an important contextual dimension for ubiquitous computing, and
it is central to the development of many ubiquitous systems.
The problem of location in opened places is well addressed by Global
Positioning System (GPS) technologies, while inference of places from
locations is an opened issue with various interesting approaches being
developed. Indoor location is also a demanding problem and various
approaches are being studied nowadays.
Development of solutions for these issues, showing good precision, accuracy,
and adequacy is of central interest for Location Based Services (LBS). The
area of Health Care is a main target for progress in this area. This
workshop will bring an exciting environment for discussion and presentation
of late breaking developments on all these subjects with emphasis on Health
Care applications. It will comprise the presentations and discussion of
scientific papers, a keynote speech, and a panel session.
Original contributions are solicited in all areas related to LBS and
Healthcare, including but not limited to:
* Technologies and infrastructures for location.
* Inference of place from position.
* Design, implementation and evaluation of location based services.
* Location based services for Health Care scenarios
* Privacy, security and trust issues.
SUBMISSION DETAILS
Ten to fifteen participants will be invited based on a position paper
submitted prior to the workshop. Each position paper should be two to five
pages in length and consist of the author's current research on location
systems and/or location based services for healthcare.
Paper submissions should attach a short text on author's current research
activities, expectations towards the workshop, and a short bio.
Position papers should follow IEEE's conference style two-column format
including figures and references.
