The IFIP Networking 2007 conference will be held in Atlanta,
Georgia from May 14 -18, 2007.
Networking 2007 invites proposals for workshops to be held in
conjunction with conference on May 18th 2007. We solicit proposals
for half and full day workshops related to the conference topics.
Proposals for workshops should stress how they intend to provide more
insight into the proposed topics with respect to the main conference.
The scope definition of the proposal should encompass only some of
the topics of the main conference.
Workshop proposals should be submitted to the workshop chair with the
title, a description of the topic, and the names of key organizers
such as program chair(s), by January 26, 2007. Prior contact with
the workshop chair is encouraged.
The organizer(s) of approved workshops will be responsible for
advertising their workshop, and for the reviewing process for their
workshop's papers, and for the collection of camera-ready copies of
accepted papers.
The workshop proposal should follow the workshop proposal form that

I need to apologise for the lack of minutes from the Paris meeting.
I have not forgotten them and my conscience IS troubling me.
Unfortunately there have been a number of personal and domestic crises
(that may be too strong a word but I can't think of a better one)
and the minutes have taken been pushed down the priority list.
I am now going to be away from my office for a couple of weeks.
That could mean that I will be out of contact until 5th February
or it could mean that I actually have time to write the minutes!
At the moment, I do not know but I will try to get the minutes done as
soon as possible.

The Workshop, held in conjunction with IEEE ICDCS 2007, provides a forum
for engineers and scientists in academia, industry and government to
present their latest research findings in specialized ad-hoc networks
and systems.
Rather than looking for one-size-fits-all general solutions in the are
of ad hoc networking and systems, maybe in vain, we want to stimulate
the application-oriented divide-and-conquer approach to ad hoc network
and system research. The goal is to provide sound, efficient specialized
ad hoc networks and systems (SAHNS) suitable for building solutions
specific for well-defined classes of applications or even individual
applications.
Very popular MANETs, sensor networks, and P2P systems are perhaps the
best known examples of extremely broad, though already specialized,
subclasses of ad hoc networks. We prefer to include in the scope of this
Workshop only more specialized varieties of MANETs, sensornets, and
P2Ps, excluding their fully general kinds.
Examples of SAHNS that we want included are vehicular ad hoc networks
(VANETs), incident area networks (IANs), and opportunistic networks
(oppnets). VANETs enable vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-roadside
networking. IANs are dedicated to single incidents or events. An IAN can
be pre-deployed for a planned event, such as a sporting or "nationally
significant" event, or can be dynamically deployed for an unplanned
incident, such as a local law enforcement situation or a natural
disaster. Oppnets react to a lack of resources by finding and
incorporating "helpers" that have needed resources or services. They
are suitable for many application scenarios, including but not limited
to emergency response situations.
We want to consider both specialized ad hoc networks and specialized ad
hoc systems. The latter can be built on top of specialized ad hoc
networks. Alternatively, they can be constructed independently of
specialized ad hoc networks, e.g., on top of general-purpose ad ho networks.

Submission of Papers:
Prospective authors are invited to submit their draft/full paper
(about 5 to 8 pages - single space, font size of 10 to 12) to
H. R. Arabnia by Feb. 20, 2007 (hra(a)cs.uga.edu). E-mail submissions
in MS Doc or PDF formats are preferable (postal mail submissions
are also fine.) All reasonable typesetting formats are acceptable
(later, the authors of accepted papers will be asked to follow a
particular typesetting format to prepare their papers for publication.)
The length of the Camera-Ready papers (if accepted) will be limited to
7 (IEEE style) pages. Papers must not have been previously published
or currently submitted for publication elsewhere. The first page of
the draft paper should include: title of the paper, name, affiliation,
postal address, email address, and telephone number for each author.
The first page should also identify the name of the author who will
be presenting the paper (if accepted) and a maximum of 5 topical
keywords that would best represent the content of the paper. Finally,
the name of the conference that the paper is being submitted to must be
stated on the first page.
Papers will be evaluated for originality, significance, clarity, impact,
and soundness. Each paper will be refereed by two experts in the field
who are independent of the conference program committee. The referees'
evaluations will then be reviewed by two members of the program
committee who will recommend a decision to the chair of the track that
the paper has been submitted to. The track chair will make the final
decision. Lastly, the Camera-Ready papers will be reviewed by one
member of the program committee.

Location of Conferences:
The conferences will be held in the Monte Carlo Resort hotel, Las Vegas,
Nevada, USA. This is a mega hotel with excellent conference facilities
and over 3,000 rooms. The hotel is minutes from the airport with
24-hour shuttle service to and from the airport. This hotel has many
recreational attractions, including: waterfalls, spa, pools, sunning
decks, Easy River water ride, wave pool, lighted tennis courts,
health spa (with workout equipment, whirlpool, sauna, ...),
nightly shows, snack bars, many restaurants, shopping area, bars, ...
Many of these attractions are open 24 hours a day and most are suitable
for families and children. The negotiated room rate for conference

Purpose / History:
This set of joint conferences is the largest annual gathering of
researchers in computer science, computer engineering and applied
computing. Many of the 25 joint conferences in WORLDCOMP are the
premier conferences for presentation of advances in their respective
fields. Most of these conferences have been evaluated and determined
to be top tier research conferences
(see http://www.cs-conference-ranking.org/index.html for an example).
We anticipate to have 2000 or more attendees from over 75 countries
participating in the 2007 joint conferences.
The motivation is to assemble a spectrum of affiliated research
conferences into a coordinated research meeting held in a common
place at a common time. The main goal is to provide a forum for
exchange of ideas in a number of research areas that interact. The
model used to form these annual conferences facilitates communication
among researchers from all over the world in different fields of
computer science, computer engineering and applied computing. Both

We are faced with an era where the widespread use of small portable wireless
devices and wireless technologies are building the pervasive vision. This
pervaded world has generated new communication paradigms:
autonomic and opportunistic communications.
Communication among devices in a pervasive environment can happen if the
devices can communicate autonomously, and manage their own evolution and
configuration changes in the network, without explicit user or administrator
action. In a pervasive world, even in the absence of any connectivity
infrastructure mobile devices can communicate using the connection
"opportunities" that arise due to mobility.
The goal of this workshop is to provide a forum between the autonomic and
opportunistic communication communities to exchange ideas, discuss
solutions, and share experiences among researchers, professionals, and
application developers both from industry and academia. Original papers
addressing both theoretical and practical aspects of autonomic
communications and computing are solicited. Papers describing prototype
implementations and deployment are particularly welcome.

PAPER SUBMISSION AND PUBLICATION

Papers should neither have been published elsewhere nor currently under
review by another conference or journal. Guidelines on paper submission and
formatting are available at http://cnd.iit.cnr.it/aoc2007/.
Accepted papers will appear in the symposium proceedings published by IEEE.
Extended versions of workshop selected papers will be considered for
possible fast track publication on the Pervasive and Mobile Computing
Journal (Elsevier).
