*FINAL Call for Papers* Extended Deadline *Feb. 18* (extensions on case-by-case basis)

IEEE WoWMoM 2007 (http://ieee-wowmom.tml.hut.fi/) is one of the leading international conferences for networking, software systems and multimedia research in the wireless/mobile area involving both computer science and electrical engineering communities. The 8th edition of the WoWMoM conference is being held from June 18-21, 2007 in Helsinki, Finland.
As part of an expanded involvement of industry researchers and professionals, WoWMoM 2007 is planning to organize a one-day *Industry Session*. Accordingly, the Industry session program committee is soliciting submissions of papers for this specially designated track, specifically targeting specific commercial applications of the following (non-exhaustive) research areas: * Middleware support for mobile multimedia * Mobile content distribution and authorization * Presence-awareness and multimedia signaling in provider networks * Service creation and provisioning for mobile applications * Broadcast/Multicast based applications and architectures * Power control and energy-efficient systems for pervasive communication * RFID/sensor applications in enterprise and provider networks * Innovative methods for charging/billing * Fixed-mobile convergence (FMC) systems * Network simulation and validation tools
The Industry Session track is intended to specially highlight system experiences and proofs-of-concept in the areas of wireless communication and multimedia applications. We emphasize that submissions must still be ``research papers’’—in other words, articles merely describing product-specific features or implementation details are NOT being solicited. Like regular papers, the “industry session” papers will undergo a review process by an international TPC and will appear in the conference proceedings.
However, the selection criteria for “industry session” papers are slightly different. In particular, papers should describe applications, prototypes or experiences of clear industry relevance. Papers with narrow algorithmic focus, marketing focus or only high-level design details are discouraged. A key goal of these sessions is to present systems-oriented research that exposes the academic and research communities to “real-life” issues and problems being faced in industry. Accordingly, papers will be evaluated, less on the novelty of specific algorithmic content, but by the originality and general applicability of insights that can be inferred from the authors’ implementation experience.
Some details on the requirements and deadlines for this “track” are:
*) Papers must be submitted in PDF format via the EDAS Website: http://edas.info/5197. Paper should be in double-column, 10pt IEEE format and no longer than 8 pages. (Details on formatting are available at: http://ieee-wowmom.tml.hut.fi/authorinfo.html).
*) Deadlines: Extended Deadine: *** February 18, 2007 *** Paper submission (via EDAS) (Extensions to the Feb 18 deadline will be granted on a case-by-case basis--to avail of this extension, you MUST email a request for extension to the chairs ** BEFORE Feb 18 **).
Reviews available: March 12, 2007 Final manuscripts due: April 6, 2007.
More details on the committee/topics for “industry sessions” and up-to-date submission deadlines etc. are available at: http://ieee-wowmom.tml.hut.fi/industry.html.
