Re: IEEE CS International Design Competition (CSIDC 2003)
Dear All,
CSIDC 2003 will be our fourth annual competition for university students in computer science, computer engineering and related fields. Teams must design, build, test, and document a working system based on a PC, laptop, or hand-held computing device to solve a real-world problem. After six months of intense work, participants then must submit reports documenting the design and implementation of their prototype.
Professor Alan Clements, the Chair CSIDC-- alanclements@ntlworld.com -- writes that the theme for this year's competition is "Added Value". Essentially, teams are free to take a PC or similar device and turn it into a socially useful application using no more than $400 US in additional components. This project gives teams an immense range of things that they can do.
Since this competition could be of interest to IFIP's member societies we are pleased to advise that detailed information about CSIDC 2003, including a Call for participation, is available at the CSIDC website at http://www.computer.org/csidc
Good wishes,
