Call for Papers
Advanced Internet Charging and QoS Technology (ICQT'01) Workshop of "Informatik 2001" URL: http://www.ftw.at/%7Eicqt01
Part of the GI and OCG General Annual Meeting Vienna, Austria, September 26-28, 2001 URL: http://www.informatik2001.at
Within the emerging area of Network Economy, an explicit view on the integration of technological and economic aspects for Internet services provisioning is essential for achieving a better understanding of today's dramatic changes and close-ups between Internet technology and economics in the field of networking.
While the access to the Internet has become a commodity, Internet Service Providers (ISP) need to be able to differentiate their service offerings for a competitive market situation, based on Internet Quality-of-Service (QoS) technology as well as value-added Internet services. To enable market managed networking, appropriate technology must be in place, both on end-user and provider side, and suitable management mechanisms as well as policies must be available transparently. In addition, the integrated handling of efficient security means for charging systems is able to promote user acceptance for resulting technology solutions.
This workshop intends to provide a platform for the presentation and discussion of highly significant approaches and ideas on charging Internet services and their economic effects on an open Internet services market. Its main focus is directed towards modelling, implementation, and experiences of Internet charging technology. With this respect, it covers Internet services and QoS suppport, application pricing and tariffing, accounting and billing tasks, Service Level Agreements (SLA) and their management, and business models for ISPs and Application Service Providers (ASP) as well as the future of bandwidth exchange schemes in the Internet backbone.
Topics of interest for this workshop include, but are not limited to, the following ones:
- Internet Charging Technology - Internet Pricing and Tariffing - Internet Accounting and Billing Tasks - Internet Service Level Agreements and their Management - Economy-based Policy Management Mechanisms - Security Mechanisms for Charging Systems - Internet Service Characterizations - Light-weight Transaction Support - QoS Support Mechanisms for the Internet - QoS Models for Mobile IP - ISP Business Models - Internet Bandwidth Exchange Models - Application Service Provider Models
