Dear all,
please find enclosed the minutes of TC6 meeting 2005-1. There is a reference in the minutes on the new TC6 publication policy which is also attached (and which is to be considered as part of the minutes).
I would like to thank Jan Slavik for the great job when preparing the meeting minutes.
Best regards Otto
Dear Otto and Jan,
Thank you for the minutes. After a quick scan, I have spotted that Jan forgot that I am the new chair for WG6.1 and that I presented WG6.1 activities. Moreover, I was mandated by TC6 to clarify the position of Springer regarding the situation of pricing of IFIP TC6 conferences.

Dear Otto and everyone,
This e-mail is to inform you about the situation concerning IFIP publications by Springer.
First, for IWQoS'05, Herman de Meer informed me that Alfred Hofmann has offered to provide more free copies to compensate for the higher price.
This means that Springer implicitely recognises his mistake in making two different offers for IFIP and non IFIP labelled conferences.
Based on this, I have sent to Alfred Hofmann the mail attached hereafter. We are now waiting for his answer.
Moreover, we have another argument we can use to motivate for same prices for IFIP and non IFIP labelled LNCS conferences. By reading clause 12 of the agreement between IFIP and Springer:
12. IFIP shall make its best endeavours, through its Technical Committees and Groups, to reach and surpass a goal of delivering 30 volumes in time for publication in each of the years covered by this Agreement, 2005 to 2009, inclusive. No litigation is intended from The Publisher should IFIP fall short of this goal. The Publisher is willing to publish as many volumes in any year which meet the criteria set out in clause 2.
This means that Springer should not make less attractive publication offers for IFIP conference organisers, otherwise IFIP will not be able to meet the goal of 30 Springer publications per year.
Depending on the answer from Springer, we may recur to this argument in a second stage.
Best regards,
Elie
Dear Otto,
Could you correct the following 2 errors ?
1. Section 10: I did not present the WG6.1. Elie Najm did. And Middleware 2005 has been published by Springer LNCS.
2. Section 13: The last paragraph (on strategic issues) is supposed to refer to our next TC6 meeting 2005/2, but it seems to refer to the 2006/2 in Santiago de Chile, given that it's just after the paragraph on WCC2006.
Best regards, Guy

I've done that but I still wait for some days until things are stabilising - before I send out the corrected version of the minutes. Concerning the contents of the next meeting(s) you are right: We said that 2005/2 in Wroclaw would be a good opportunity for strategic discussions. I've added that in the minutes. However, my feeling is that in Santiago (2006/2 we may also find some time for necessary strategic discussions.
