Dear All,
We are impressed by all the support we received in selecting the IFIP Event of the Year 2002. From the email IDs and sign. lines of the participants we can say that they come from 27 [TWENTY SEVEN] countries -- Argentina, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, China, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany [very active participation!!], Greece, Hungary, India, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Spain, South Africa, Sweden, Switzerland, Rep. of Korea, Thailand, UK and USA. WOW, thank you very much!!! Just for comparison, at the end of 2001 participants from 13 countries chose "The IFIP-UNESCO Summit meeting" as the IFIP event of 2001.
This year's ballot was called on the basis of 7 nominations [ref. http://www.ifip.or.at/mail/msg00204.html ]. The large majority of participants expressed its preference for
***30th Anniversary of TC 6*** which is hereby DECLARED as the IFIP Event of 2002.
[Our report on the 30th Anniversary of TC 6 is posted at http://www.ifip.or.at/secretariat/tc6.pdf ]
CONGRATULATIONS to TC 6 - IFIP's Sailboat in the Wind! We wish them further inspiration so as to continue their remarkable activity in future.
***The IFIP-UNESCO partnership*** is the runner-up and ***The 17th World Computer Congress in Montreal*** is third.
