If you come to Montreal for the 17th IFIP World Computer Congress, 25-29 August 2002 [ http://www.wcc2002.org ] you will probably have a chance to hear the following 3 Keynoters:
*Keiji Tachikawa is President and CEO of NTT DoCoMo, Inc., Japan's largest mobile telecommunication operator, since June 1998. He has held a number of senior posts in his 36-year career with both NTT and NTT DoCoMo, Inc. Tachikawa is fast becoming a household name. Two years ago he was unknown outside the wireless industry but today top technology executives are undertaking pilgrimages to Japan to meet him and to investigate Japan's most successful company. He helped pioneer the wireless Net. DoCoMo's popular i-mode service has attracted more than 17 million users and 30,000 content providers in the two years since its launch. NTT DoCoMo, Inc. is a global force with links to America Online Inc. and stakes in AT&T Wireless and the Dutch KPN Mobile, among others.
*Abdul Waheed Khan is Assistant Director-General for Communication and Information, UNESCO since July 2001. He is responsible for UNESCO's programs and activities in communication and information and for coordinating UNESCO's contribution to the UN ICT Task Force and the World Summit on the Information Society, December 2003, Geneva. Mr Khan served as Vice-Chancellor (President and Chief Executive Officer) at the Indira Gandhi National Open University from 1998 to 2000 and has provided consultancy services to a number of international agencies such as the Asia Pacific Institute for Broadcasting Development in Kuala Lumpur, the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific in Bangkok, the Asian Productivity Organization in Tokyo, the World Bank in Washington and the Asian Development Bank.
*Mike Lazaridis is founder, President and co-CEO of Research In Motion Limited (RIM). He oversees all product development and operations and is responsible for the development and ownership of several patents for Digisync, software code and radio technologies. RIM is a leading designer, manufacturer and marketer of innovative wireless solutions for the mobile communications market and provides solutions for seamless access to time-sensitive information including email, messaging, Internet and intranet-based applications.
