Dear TC6 members,
As you are aware a small Committee, consisting of myself, Harry Rudin and Wolfgang Zimmer, started looking for a new WG 6.6 chairman since last year. The reason was that the time period of Wolfgang as WG 6.6 chairman had already exceeded the usual 6 years allowed for a WG chairmanship according to the IFIP bylaws.
The Committee agreed to propose the name of Dr. Raouf Boutaba from Univ. of Waterloo, Canada, for the WG 6.6 chairmanship. Dr. Boutaba showed availability and willingness in serving in that position. In our view, due to his high knowledge in the field of Network Management, as documented in his excellent cv, and to his acceptance within the Group, Dr. Boutaba will be an excellent choice.
We formally made this proposal to WG 6.6 by e-mail and we had a good number of supporting messages and no message against. Now, I would like to formally propose to TC6 to endorse Raouf Boutaba as the new WG 6.6 chairman, in order that I can proceed with his nomination. If you wish to make any comments on this proposal, please do them until March 21st. If no comments received until that date I will assume that no objection is raised.
The cv of Dr. Boutaba and his statement for the WG 6.6 chairmasip is sent in attach.
I cannot finish this mail without showing all my appreciation and gratitude for the excellent work done by Wolfgang Zimmer during all these years as WG 6.6 chairman. The high value of the events supported by WG 6.6 shows all the good work that this WG has developed along the years. We continue counting on Wolfgang to work with us in the coming years. This actually is already happening in the next IM Conference, which is chaired by Wolfgang Zimmer.
Best regards
Augusto Casaca

Dear Dr Casaca,
I have attended the IEEE ComSoc CNOM Meeting at Globecom end of November and talked to the Chairman of this committee who I know well. I have also talked to Wolfgang Zimmer last week during DSOM. Based on these discussions and the one with Guy Pujolle earlier this last summer, I think that I have now a better idea of IFIP TC6.6 WG.
As per your request for a statement, please find below the directions I think can be followed by the TC6.6 WG during the next mandate:
* Globalization beyond European Union and North America * Strengthen relationships with South America and Asia Pacific * Maintain a good relationship with CNOM * (co-)Sponsor and organize TC6.6 WG events * Open new areas of activity with respect to the IFIP charter
Best regards,
Raouf
