Dear all,
FYI, it seems that Springer LNCS is becoming more strict about the proceedings they will accept to publish.
In the recent past, any conference whose scope was a central topic of computer science was accepted, which means that very low level events were sitting side by side with very high level events.
This seems to be changing. For example, TESTCOM 2005 was finally published in IFIP-LNCS, but only after some discussion where the acceptance ratio was a key criterion.
Anyway, we have the TC6 bylaw that all our events (except workshops) are supposed to have acceptance rates below 50%. If this is the case, we will probably be accepted in IFIP-LNCS. Therefore, we should continue to enforce this policy, independently of the fact that we still target LNCS publication or not (according to the "new" TC6 publication policy).
Best regards, Guy
Dear Guy and evryone,
In reaction to my mail informning the TC6 about the actions I have taken concerning the publication of IWQoS'05 with IFIP, Otto and myself received a mail from Klaus Brunnstein that I reproduce hereafter. This mail indicates that our contact person in Springer is now Jennifer Evans. But I do not know if this implies that the publications will still be in the LNCS series or in another SSBM series directed by Jennifer Evans. Any comments ?
Elie

Dear Otto and Dear Elie, having been made aware of the appended email (which covers new publications (from 2005 onwards), I wish to inform you that SSBM director of publications Dr. Heinze has agreed, in close contact with Jennifer Evans and Alfred Hofmann, that all contractual issues between SSBM and IFIP shall operate through a single point of contact at SSBM. With his decision, Dr. Heinze wished to assure that information flow between IFIP and SSBM is optimized and that no information is lost (as sometimes before).
May I consequently ask you to assure that all contacts with SSBM should operate through Jennifer Evans. Concerning publications before 2005 under LNCS contract, naturally operated by Alfred Hofmann, can you please cc: Jennifer so that SSBM can maintain a complete picture of publications, including successes and potential problems.
Thanx for your support, and please feel free to contact me if you have any question. Best wishes: Klaus Brunnstein (June 8, 2005)
