I too support Otto's view but Guy's comments and questions ought also to be relayed to Roger Johnson.
I'm sure the publications committee are looking for alternative publishers but if anyone has any ideas, they ought to pass them on to Roger.
Two questions:
Has anyone had any experience with "print on demand" book publishers?
Have our contacts with electronic publishing come up with anything useful?

Peter

Dear TC6 members,
Please send me your views on the mail sent by Roger Johnson on the different possibilities for the choice of a new IFIP publisher. I sent you that mail last week and I need to know your opinion up to this coming Monday.
Best regards
Augusto

Dear Augusto
In TC6 meeting, it was discussed on IWAN 2003 planed to be held at Nara City, Japan in October 2003.
I understand that the meeting will not be held because no circulation is mailed before TC6 meeting and it is too late to send call for paper, and the event can be cancelled if preparation is not enough.I was requested to explore the situation to report to Augusto,
I contacted Prof Yasuda of the University Tokyo who is supposed to be general chair and Dr.Takada who is nominated as the contact point.
According to his report the meeting is rescheduled to be held Dec 10-12 in Kyoto. Because the date was changed, the organizer is still working to prepare call for paper and IFIP event request form.
I expect that IWAN meeting will be held at the rescheduled timing, and supported by many Asian specialist of active network Since the preparation is ongoing supposing IFIP framework, I think that the plan is to be kept in the IFIP calender of event.
I recommended them to report to TC6 through WG6.7 chair to TC6 chair on the schedule change immediately
The confusion was caused by shortage of communication among TC6,WG6.7 and meeting organizer. Improvement of communication and understanding of TC6 event rule by each participant will be important.
