Please accept my apologies for not replying sooner - it was on my list of "things to do when I have a few minutes spare time".
I'm on the positive side considering that there are some very interesting computer systems that are sports-related and some of those have very demanding communications requirements. As examples, consider the systems that have been developed for the Olympic Games and the systems associated with Formula 1 car racing, even when they have removed the remote engine control facilities to let someone other than Ferrari win!
Balancing this interest, I have to say that I would have very little time to contribute much to progressing this, unless someone could convince my lords and masters that it was relevant to the telecommunications operators (that's the business sector I'm in). I'd be happy to act a reviewer of papers (assuming it could all be done remotely) but I could not realistically commit to anything else.
Hope this helps
Regards
Peter

Dear all,
on March 14 I asked you about a possible interest in an IFIP initiative (or Task Force or whatsoever) concerning "IT and Sports".
The number of answers received was rather limited:
Not more than two replies (one positive, one sceptical):
Positive: "Very interesting and innovative idea"
Sceptical: "There are many areas, much more closely related to the core of TC6 activities where we could well use more energy --- but we don't seem to have this energy."
At our recent meeting in Lisboa we had more positive comments. Why did they disappear?
In two days from now I will have a preparatory meeting in Cologne and if poisble at all I would like to have some more input.
Can I still hope for that?
Best regards Otto
