Dear members of the IFIP family,
we are glad to inform you that a first (experimental) version of IFIP Digital Library (DL) is available from (new) IFIP website. It is the mission of IFIP DL to support a free and non-restrictive flow of communication from IFIP to its members and fellows, hence IFIP DL shall finally contain all IFIP Publications for FREE access and free download (the database will suitably be updated). For those publications under the Springer contract, a reference to SpringerLink will be included from where you can then freely access the related conference proceedings.
As Publication Committee will analyse the operation and further requirements for IFIP DL, as well as business models how to cover the costs, it would be very helpful if you report your impressions, findings and suggestions to Publication Committee Chair, Prof. Joe Turner (turner@cs.clemson.edu). Based on a related suggestion of Publications Committee, a decision on IFIP DL will be taken at GA-2006 in Santiago de Chile. Concerning malfunctions, please report them to Eduard Dundler in IFIP secretariat, and we will try to correct them ASAP.
You will find "experimental (IFIP) Digital Library" on the IFIP website (top, right side): http://www.ifip.org.
Best regards: Klaus Brunnstein (June 29, 2006)

Hi Otto:
Looking at the IFIP Web page, I cannot find any information or link to the IM conference. Although the conference will take place only in 2007, the deadline for paper submission is September 1st, 2006. Consequently, this is the most important time for the conference to be advertised within IFIP calendar of events, Web page, News, email blasts and any other useful marketing tools.
I have provided all information about IM 2007 conference and this information has been already included in TC6 calendar of events and was included in the TC6 meeting documents.
What is the process to make sure that our events are properly advertised by IFIP in a timely manner? Should we (WG chair or the organizer?) explicitly ask the Webmaster to do so for each event?
Regards
Raouf
Dear Raouf (and others),

My suggestion is that the WG chairpersons send their announcements immediately to the Webmaster Herbert Leitold Herbert.Leitold@a-sit.at. Herbert has (unfortunately) indicated that he will have to step down as webmaster rather soon due to other commitments but that he will be able to serve for a little while. We wil have to find a new solution. In order to make life easier for Herbert your informations to him and to myself should be in a standardised format such as in the following example (pure ASCII please):
----- Conference: 6th IFIP conference on E-Commerce, E-Business, E-Government. WG 6.11 + TC 8 + TC11. 11 - 13 October 2006; Turku, Finland; Email contact: Reima.Suomi@tukkk.fi URL: http://www.tukkk.fi/i3e/home.html -----
