Dear Adam and all,
Concerning our meeting location enclosed, please find files (from Amazon) about book of Norman Davies and Roger Moorhouse entitled "Microcosm: A portrait of a Central European City".
Of course, I didn't want to make a serious case out of my remark. The Davies, Moorhouse description is perfect.
I was only a little astonished (or amused) to see this "occupation" sentence in the Lonely Planet which is otherwise an absolutely perfect travel guide. I used it extensively this summer when I made a two way holiday trip through Poland, Czechia, and Slovakia; this trip brought me, of course, also to Wroclaw which I had never seen before. The informations given by Lonely Planet (sightseeing, hotels, things to do and not to do,...) are more then 20 times worth the book price, at least. Having this in mind, I could easily tolerate such an amusing sentence.
Best wishes and see you in Wroclaw Otto
