Yes, we nominated Andre Danthine in Bangkok (and we were reluctant to propose other names).
Nevertheless, I believe to remember that we wanted to give other (nonparticipating) delegates a chance to nominate somebody else if they would have good reasons for that.
Until now, this has not happened and I don't expect it.
Thus:
Since Andre has been nominated by many people already we might do an electronic voting about selecting him as
*new* honorary member of TC6.
If a delegate doesn't react before Feb. 1, 2005, then I assume that he agrees to that decision. Of course, positive votes are preferred.
(See below for a voting sheet).
This doesn't exclude the presentation of additional names.
By the way: Louis and Tibor are honorary members since several years already.
Best regards
Otto

** Convergence of Heterogeneous Wireless Networks **
* *
* July 10, 2005 in Budapest, Hungary *

* CALL FOR PAPERS *
**********************************************************************
Scope of ConWiN 2005:
=====================
The advances in the wireless communication technologies have enabled
the realization of wide range of heterogeneous wireless networks from
wireless local area networks (WLANs), several generations (2G/3G) of
wireless cellular networks to mobile ad hoc networks (MANET) and
wireless sensor networks (WSN). This technological evolution is
further inspiring researchers to envision the next generation wireless
networking architectures and even the space Internet.
Next Generation Wireless Internet (NGWI) will be the convergence of
these heterogeneous wireless networks and the next generation Internet
to provide mobile users with a wide range of high resource demanding
services such as high speed reliable data and real-time multimedia
delivery. While the unique characteristics of each of these wireless
networks pose diverse set of challenges, their integration severely
expands the set of open research problems for seamless, efficient, and
reliable communication. Therefore, there exists an urgent need for a
significant research effort to focus on solving these new challenges
posed by the integration and the convergence of these wireless
heterogeneous networks.
The objective of ConWiN 2005 is to provide a research platform where
researchers bring their contributions to light by presenting their
technical papers on the issues regarding the integration and the
convergence of heterogeneous wireless networks. Papers solicited in
ConWiN 2005 spans a wide range of areas of interest including but
not limited to:
- Physical layer issues for the convergence of heterogeneous wireless
communication technologies
- Novel and adaptive communication protocols at all layers, i.e.,
MAC layer problems, routing, reliable and multimedia transport, for
integration of diverse wireless systems such as WLANs, 3G, and WSNs
- Novel and practical communication architectures for the convergence
of heterogeneous wireless networks
- Efficient mobility/handoff management protocols for seamless roaming
within the converged communication architecture
- Killer applications/services for the convergence towards the NGWI
- Security, authentication, and billing solutions for the converged
architecture

4th International Workshop on
PARALLEL AND DISTRIBUTED METHODS IN VERIFICATION
(PDMC 2005)
July 10, 2005 - Lisboa, Portugal
Workshop affiliated to ICALP'05
http://pdmc.informatik.tu-muenchen.de
=============================================================================
OBJECTIVES: The growing importance of automated formal verification in
industry is driving a growing interest in those aspects which have a
direct impact on its applicability to real world problems. One of the
main technical challenges is in devising tools that allow to handle
large state spaces. Over the last years numerous approaches have been
developed. Recently, an increasing interest is in parallelizing and
distributing of verification techniques.
The aim of the PDMC workshop series is to cover all aspects of
parallel and distributed methods and techniques for formal
verification. Theoretical results, algorithms and case studies are
equally welcome. Contributions from the domains of model checking,
theorem proving, and equivalence checking are anticipated.
The PDMC workshop aims to provide a working forum for presenting,
sharing, and discussing recent achievements in the field of parallel
and distributed verification. The workshop will consist of invited
talks and a selection from submitted papers.
SCOPE AND TOPICS: Papers describing recent work on all aspects of
parallel and distributed verification are solicited as contributions
to PDMC. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
* parallel and distributed model checking
* parallel and distributed equivalence checking
* parallel and distributed satisfiability checking
* slicing and distributing the state space
* distributed theorem proving
* distributed constraints solving
* parallel methods in probabilistic model checking
* file systems for distributed transitions systems
* parallel methods in performance evaluation
* tools and case studies
* industrial applications
INVITED SPEAKER:
* Kim G. Larsen (Aalborg University, Denmark)
SUBMISSION GUIDELINES: There are two categories of submissions:
regular papers and presentations.
* Manuscripts of regular papers are limited to a maximum of 10
pages (excluding bibliography and technical appendices) in
postscript or PDF format (ENTCS style strongly recommended).
* Presentations report on relevant results submitted to other
forums or already published or on not yet finished work in
progress. Presentations will appear in the workshop preliminary
proceedings, but will not be considered for the final workshop
proceedings. The space limit for presentations is 10 pages
(excluding bibliography and technical appendices) in postscript
or PDF format (ENTCS style strongly recommended).
Submissions should be made electronically using PDMC'05 Submission Page.
PROCEEDINGS: The preliminary workshop proceedings will be available at
the meeting. The final proceedings appear as a volume of Electronic
Notes in Theoretical Computer Science. After the workshop, selected
authors will be invited to submit full versions of their papers
(regular papers or presentation results not submitted for journal
publication) to a special section of a journal (under negotiation).
IMPORTANT DATES:
* Submission deadline: April 17, 2005
* Notification of acceptance: May 16, 2005
* Presentations deadline: May 22, 2005
* Final version: June 3, 2005

LANOMS 2005 - 4th Latin American Network Operations and Management Symposium
Sheraton Hotel - Porto Alegre, Brazil - August 29-31, 2005
http://www.lanoms.org/2005/
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
The 4th Latin American Network Operations and Management Symposium - LANOMS
2005, to be held in Porto Alegre - Brazil, is the result of the great
success of the previous LANOMS 1999 (held in Rio de Janeiro), LANOMS
2001 (held in Belo Horizonte), and LANOMS 2003 (held in Iguassu Falls), as
well as the other successful events in the area of network management:
NOMS and APNOMS.
The LANOMS 2005 is promoted by the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul
(UFRGS) and by the University of Vale do Rio dos Sinos (UNISINOS). The main
goal of LANOMS 2005 is to create a forum more specific to the necessities of
Latin American in the area of network management involving networking and
telecommunications companies, academic institutions and equipment vendors.
LANOMS is an event open to participants from all over the world who are
interested in having, or already have, research or commercial liaisons in
Latin America - one of the fastest growing regions in the world in
networking.
