Subject: [ifip-tc6] National Rep's Task Description
Dear Colleagues:
As you may remember from Vilnius, I had the assignment to synthesize TC
Chair's so called "Job Descriptions" for National Representatives to TC's
and Working Groups.
I received versions from TC3 and TC1. Taking my own version, I developed
the following summary. I tried to be as brief as possible, yet hopefully
cover all the points being made.
Would you please review the attached? I would be happy to receive your
feedback and incorporate additional points you wish to include, change,
modify, etc. Then I will send you the revised version for discussion at
our next meeting.

Dear TC6-friends.
During Net-Con'2003 and TC6 meeting which both were perfect
organized by Ahmed I took some old-time photos which were
scanned to a CD (later I have more on another film which has
not yet been developed). The photos are in:
www.com.dtu.dk/teletraffic/Oman_photos/<file_name>
The files names are given below together with a short text.
A star means the quality is not good. In general the file
size is about 500K.
Thus the TC-6 group in Muscat is in:

Also most TC6 delegates are on:

I still use the nice dress I bought in the Basar:

(However, my wife don't like her new dress)
Many thanks to Ahmed and his colleagues.

André et al,
Exchange offers the options of requesting "delivery" and / or "read"
receipts but even these are not always reliable.
Different mail systems seem to have different interpretations and do
different things.
In any case, I was planning to send out, probably at the end of each week, a
list of those whose votes I had received.
(I was on leave for the last three days of last week, so I had nearly twenty
votes in my in-box on Monday!)

Dear Ahmed,
When I send important e-mail I always use the Response Requested Service.
I got always notification of receipt from the mail server of the
people I try to reach.
Sometimes I got the receipt of the people when the email is open.
The problem is more difficult if the message does not reach the mail server.
That is the reason why TC6 requested to send the vote to two people.
Requesting from Dorothy and Peter to ack each received vote is adding
to their work. Futhermore, for such problem the receiver does not
open the votes immediatly but put them in a file. They will be open
this file after several days. If the sender is expecting a diect
answer, he may become nervous and try to resend.
By the way the automatic receipt notification sent by the mail server
(after the spam detection process) may also get lost. The same is
true for the direct reply.
Email is not a guaranteed service. THIS IS INTERNET.
Best regards

Dear TC6 members,
In my message of yesterday about the dates of the second TC6 meeting in 2004 I referred the Netcon Conference in Bangkok in November. It was a mistake. Actually it is Intellcom'04 which takes place in Bangkok. Netcon'04 is in Palma de Mallorca in 2004 as indicated in the TC6 calendar.
Best regards
Augusto Casaca
Dear colleagues,
As you know we had reserved the dates of November 26 and 27th, 2004 for the second meeting of TC6 in 2004 to be held in Thailand. However, Harry Rudin and Raouf Boutaba indicated potential problems with those dates, suggesting to have the meeting before the NetCon conference.
At this stage it seems that there are no constraints from the part of the organisers to have the meeting either before or after Netcon. Therefore let me propose the dates of November 21 and 22nd for our meeting instead of the previous ones.
If no negative comment is received until a week today (November 17th) I will consider the new dates as accepted. If there is any negative comment towards these new dates in relation to the previous ones, I will propose to have a quick vote to reach a decision.
Best regards
Augusto
