Hmm...
I checked, and while procmail is on Freshmeat, smartlist isn't. Might be
a good idea...?

He, your software looks good.
Too bad you people aren't listed at http://freshmeat.net
Why not?
You could attract a lot of users /developers that way!

Hey guys,
I posted before about the CGI script I'm rewriting for smartlist
(originally written for majordomo). The script has to send seperate emails
for each list a user wants to subscribe to using sendmail. If a user
wanted to subscribe to five lists using our web form, would it work if the
script requested one email with this header?
To: webmaster(a)mycompany.com
From: user(a)theircompany.com
Cc: list1-request(a)mycompany.com,
list2-request(a)mycompany.com,
list3-request(a)mycompany.com,
list4-request(a)mycompany.com,
list5-request(a)mycompany.com
Subject: subscribe (this could be in the body)
Or would even a Bcc work? The bottom line is that I want the script to
send only one email request to sendmail when subscribing a user to
multiple lists. Otherwise, I'd have to put the sendmail code in a
foreach loop (Perl), which I don't want to do. Any help would be much
appreciated.

Hi all,
I just switched from a moderated 'majordomo' list and having following
problems. Would really appreciate some response.
- In majordomo, I could take the original post that came to me for approval,
add my 'Approved: pwd' in first line of body and send it back to
mailing-list and it would show up as if it was posted by the original
sender, keeping the "Return-To: email', Date, etc. intact. Is there a
similar feature in 'smartlist' ?
Currently, I am 'forwarding' all the users' posts to the mailing-list with
'Approved: pwd' as the first line in body but in the process, I am losing
all the details of the original post. Also, forwarding the post after
approval puts the quotes in every line. I have a feeling that there should
be a better way of achieving this functionality in smartlist but not sure
how.
- If a user is already subscribed and tries to subscribe again, is it
possible to send him the following message back:
***** subscribe
>>>>> You are already subscribed!
Currently, user does not get any email/notification back but the moderator
gets a copy of the subscriber's email.
Could someone please suggest me some 'recipe' for this or point me in the
direction were I can get one for these problems.
Thanks
Nishi
Hi all,
I have tried the doc/manual and the archives and yes, I did find a good
deal of reference to this functionality but somehow, I am not able to
get it to work.
I have created a moderated list by turning 'moderated_flag= yes' in
rc.custom but I am having problem submitting the approved post. As the
designated moderator, I get the email with the original post but all my
subsequent submissions tagged with 'Approved: my_email_id pwd' are
coming back to me as it is. I have tried following but without any luck
(all without quotes):
'Approved: my_email pwd' in subject
'Approved: my_email pwd' in body, as first line
'Approved: my_email' in subject
'Approved: my_email' in body, as first line
Could someone please help me.
Thanks
Nishi

I am a new user of smartlist and when I subscribed to receive the
newsletter I was sent a confirmation email which surprised me because I am
using smarlist for my mailing list and it does not send out a confirmation
email when someone subscribes to the list. How can I get smartlist to send
a confirmation email when someone joins my list? Thanks for your help!
Alan,
Hello All,
I just started using smartlist. I have the smart list setup with the address support(a)data-direct.com. That address is supposed to receive backup and ups notifications from our customers and send them to the techs in our office. However, I noticed that the backup and ups e-mails are considered daemons and just get dropped into the request file. How can I modify the support list config to allow submissions from these daemons?
Sincerely,

I'm interested in the possibility using Smartlist as a spam filter but in
looking thru the docs and doing some experimentation with the configuration
I cannot figure out how.
Has anyone created a configuration that lets them to this?
If so, could you let me know how or send me a copy of your configuration files?
Thanks in advance,
Joe

Hi
My company will be switching to smartlist from majordomo in the couple
weeks. I'm new to this list and do not have access to the installed
documentation, so I have a couple quick questions.
I've written a web form script for our clients to subscribe to our
majordomo lists (we have several) using sendmail and I have to modify it
for smartlist. Can anyone tell me the email syntax needed for the script
to add an email address to multiple lists? For example, this is the syntax
I used for majordomo (contained in the message body):
subscribe user(a)company.com list1-l
subscribe user(a)company.com list2-l
subscribe user(a)company.com list3-l
Is there a similar feature in smartlist? What email address would this
message be sent to? I found a related question in the faq at:
http://www.hartzler.net/smartlist/SmartList-FAQ.html#Section_2.5
but I would like to have the email address and lists specified in the
message body and not the header. Any help would be much appreciated.
Sincerely,
Tony Grimes
