Is there a way your software can create a quadrangular mesh on an existing point cloud? We have a client who is looking for such a mesh to bring into their finite element analysis software
Thanks
Chris

Hi,
we don't have free code to create quadrangular meshes from point cloud data.
But in the staging branch is a plugin for creating triangular meshes from point clouds. It's based on the code of Michael Kazhdan and Matthew Bolitho (2006). You can get the automatic build from this branch at: http://openflipper.org/Daily-Builds/Windows/Staging/ http://openflipper.org/Daily-Builds/Mac/Staging/
Additionally we have closed source implementations for converting triangular meshes into quad meshes. http://www.graphics.rwth-aachen.de/media/papers/bommes_zimmer_2009_siggraph_...
It should be possible to construct a pipeline from points to quad meshes based on that.
Best, Jan Möbius
