I would like to know how to properly create a custom datatype for use
within the OpenFlipper framework.
Currently, I am using a fudged together datatype, basically an inherited
version of an existing data type (SplatCloud). However, it is becoming too
limited for my needs and thus require the ability to properly define a new
datatype.
I have checked the online documentation and there is just a "To Do" place
holder.
Any help would be much appreciated,
Adam
Hi,
OpenFlipper 1.2 has been released. This release adds a lot of new
functionality to OpenFlipper.
The new plugins in this version are:
- Mesh compare:
Compare distance, normal deviation and other mesh properties
- Primitives Generator
Create various primitives(Spheres, icosahedron, dodecahedron,...)
- PropertyVis
Visualize scalar or vector valued properties on meshes
- Remesher
Adaptive and uniform remeshing
- Render depth peeling
Depth peeling renderer (transparency)
- Render Screen Space Ambient Occlusion
Screen Space Ambient Occlusion renderer
- Height field importer:
Import images containing height fields as triangle meshes
Additionally some new data types have been added:
- Hexahedral Meshes (based on OpenVolumeMesh)
- Splat Clouds
Furthermore a lot of updates and improvements as well as bugfixes have
been integrated. It now builds fine with VS2010 and XCode 4.3 (clang).

Hello,
I'm looking for some examples on how to draw some stuff on a mesh. For
example, draw some lines on the triangle mesh, do i need to build a render
for that ? Which plugin can i find some hint on that ?
Thank you very much.

Hi,
I have downloaded the prebuilt installation of Openflipper 1.1.
Following installation, upon running it, when it gets "Loading
Configuration File 0/1", I receive the following error message,
RunTime Error!
Program: C:\Program Files(x86)\OpenFlipper 1.1\OpenFlipper.exe
This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
Please contact the application's support team for more information.
Any help much appreciated,

Hi,
OpenFlipper 1.1 has been released. With this release we introduced the
new renderer and post processor interfaces. The renderer interface
allows a plug-in to replace the default rendering code with a
specialized version, while the post processors can apply additional
filters to the output of a renderer.
A new file plug-in for reading and writing vtk files has been added and
the script editor has been improved (online syntax check, line numbers,
...). Furthermore we fixed a number of bugs.
A detailed list of changes can be found in the change log at:
http://openflipper.org/Documentation/OpenFlipper-1.1/changelog.html
Downloads are available in the download section and a Mac version is in
the app store.
As our new auto build and test infrastructure is online, we will offer
daily builds from the svn repository at this URL:
http://openflipper.org/Daily-Builds/

Installed Windows OpenFlipper 1.0.2 on 4GB RAM Windows XP system today.
Unable to load any files, have tried OFF, OBJ and PLY all generated by MeshLab.
Have also tried PLY files generated by MeshConv.
Sometimes there is a message about binary read errors and an illegal index. Other times, OpenFlipper closes without any message.
OpenFlipper looks useful. Please help.
Hi,
I downloaded the Open Flipper application, but I have no knowledge of scripts or programming. Is there any way I can create and edit skeletons etc. using only my mouse, kind of like an Adobe Program, or is it all entirely script based?

Hello,
my problem is, that after deleting vertices or faces using garbage collection,
the indices aren't consistent to the indices before the deleting
process any more.
For example:
we have 3 vertices: 0,1,2
we delete vertex 0 using garbage collection and we have vertices labled: 0, 1
and the vertex labled with 0 belongs to the vertex labled with 2
before deleting.
A consistent numbering for me would be: 1,2
Is there any way to have a consistent numbering after deleting using
garbage collection ?
best regards,
Marcel
