hi! how can i modyfiy the text for the automatic subscribe/unsubscribe-mail? The possibilities of a *subscribe.txt*-file in my folder are not enough for me. Archives?

But you're right, it's been _years_ since he's been around. However, the list belongs to the maintainer (or at least the machine's admin), not the members. You'll get no argument from me that the list should be moved (I believe I said exactly that a couple of times), but to suggest the admins need to take a poll to ask what they may or may not do with the existing list is silly, to say the least. They are certainly able to move this list to mailman without the list subscriber's permission - indeed, they _have_ done so, which makes my point for me. Whether we should move this list to a SmartList server is a completely seperate issue...one which Philip should probably weigh in on, since he is now maintaining the procmail/SmartList source and as such the de facto head of our band of merry wanderers... blocking a reply

Greetings, Is it possible to block the reply of certain individuals from being distributed to a mailing list? Their accounts have been removed and it is only possible for certain people to post to the list. However, neither one of these options eliminates the possibility of these unwanted individuals from responding. Thanks in advance. Tom O'Rourke

html attachments

I want to remove html attachments from postings but the links in the FAQ don't work and seems to be quite old. Could someone give me a working solution for the removal of this garbage? Werner

is possible to include destination email address in message?

Hi, I wonder if this is possible with smartlist: sometimes people (like me) have more than one email address and do not remember which one was used to susbcribe to a list. In some lists I've seen a sentence at the end of every message sent by the list like: "You are subscribed as: username(a)domain.com" ...which is helpful when the users want to unsubscribe and forgot the email address they used. Is there a way to get this feature with smartlist? TIA, Llorenc Sole Maresme Netcom, S.L.

Archived Email

I am using Smartlist on my server and when I send email it is archived in the archive directory called "latest". I have set smartlist to archive the latest ten emails that I send to the list. However the latest email sent to the list keeps receiving a numeric name that continues to increase. How can I set up smartlist so that the numeric name for the latest ten emails sent to the list remain named 1 - 10? Alan,

smarlist doesnt seem to be doing anything

I recently added the linux mandrake 8.0 version of smartlist (3.13-4) onto a system that had a working version of postfix on it. I simply added the rpm with no problems. Creating the list was easy (i did this as root) and updated the aliases as per directions. The first message i sent complained of the "listserv" user id not existing - so i created a listserv user and made its home directory the "listserv" directory just above the .bin directory that runs the lists. now when I send a message to the list it does pretty much nothing. I turned on logging and debugging by editing the rc.local file and changing the settings in there. Very little in the logs - nothing that jumps out. I tried both just adding people to the list member files and going thru the usual process of approving the subscribers for the list. Anyone have any suggestions on how to best determine what is going on with this ? Smartlist looked so easy to setup i can't figure out what could be messed up ? Thanks in advance. Gord Jensen

members not receiving copies of their posts

I maintain several lists and several members do not receive copies of the posts they send. This happens on several lists and only affects a few members.
