The following is a sample of the results of a search that I receive by email.
This there a way to hide the line number?

Alan,
hi!
how can i modyfiy the text for the automatic subscribe/unsubscribe-mail?
The possibilities of a *subscribe.txt*-file in my folder are not enough for
me. I want suppress the information about the transmited data and translate

Hello:
Does SmartList have an archiving and (hopefully user friendly) search capability?
[I'm not interested in the archives of this Disc List, but of the list I run for my
'users'].
Thanks,

Actually, that's not _strictly_ true, since I remember when Stephen was
actually maintaining the list (and probably anally have archives of the list
from that time somewhere on some floppy or MO cart from a long time ago and
far far away). But you're right, it's been _years_ since he's been around.
However, the list belongs to the maintainer (or at least the machine's
admin), not the members. You'll get no argument from me that the list should
be moved (I believe I said exactly that a couple of times), but to suggest
the admins need to take a poll to ask what they may or may not do with the
existing list is silly, to say the least. They are certainly able to move
this list to mailman without the list subscriber's permission - indeed, they
_have_ done so, which makes my point for me.
Whether we should move this list to a SmartList server is a completely
seperate issue...one which Philip should probably weigh in on, since he is
now maintaining the procmail/SmartList source and as such the de facto head
of our band of merry wanderers...

Greetings,
Is it possible to block the reply of certain individuals from being
distributed to a mailing list? Their accounts have been removed and it is
only possible for certain people to post to the list. However, neither one
of these options eliminates the possibility of these unwanted individuals
from responding.
Thanks in advance.

I have a quote reject script (one from the Smartlist FAQ) set on all my
lists to keep quoting to a minimum.
Lately, more and more of my subscribers -- mostly newbies (both on my list
and on the Internet itself) -- are using unconventional quoting styles and
their posts are sneaking past the quote reject, often with massive amounts
of requoting.
My current quote reject script looks for the standard greater-than carats
(>) at the beginning of lines. I now have several people who simply put
quotation marks around quoted sections. For example:
"This is stuff someone else said. I'm requoting it and then I'm going to
follow it by saying nothing more than than I agree with what they said.
I will not add anything of substance in my response, and I will do this
repeatedly throughout the rest of my 40k post to this list ... today,
tomorrow, and as long as I am a subscriber."
And then they write their response and go into the next quoted paragraph.
It's annoying as all hell and I'm getting complaints.
Has anyone here devised a script to reject based on this style of quoting
when it's used excessively? I would really rather not have to start
siphoning off certain subscribers' posts just to count the lines by hand.
That's such a pain. But my requests for these folks to monitor themselves
have not worked. I have to do something.
Any help or suggestions are appreciated.

It appears that the latest version of AOL does not allow you
send in plain text format. I have been blocking plain text
for some time and do not want to change this. Does anyone
know of any work around for this? Maybe RTF->plain
conversion?
No biggie if I can't, just checking.
I am looking for advice, example, instruction, anything that will help me
create a web-based subscription form
for a smartlist mailing list. I have been looking for hours, and thought
that the members of this forum may be able
to lend a hand.
I am trying to free myself of free e-mail hosts (Topica), and use the
smartlist installed on my web site.
Any help or advice is appreciated.

I am having some trouble customizing these lists.
For instance, I want one list to have replies go to the individual, the
other list to go to the sender.
Now I lost my footer in both lists and can't get it back. I have followed
all the instructions to do this.
But for now, am I correct in assuming this line is the one that determines
if the changes affect all lists?
If I want them to only affect this list, do I keep this commented, or remove
the pound sign?
Thank you.
