Hello,
On one of my list, I need to have reply to: go to the list, rather than the
individual.
I uncommented the line, and it still does not work.:
#reply_to
reply_to = "Resent-Reply-To: chat(a)intrepid-video.com" # uncomment (and
perhaps change
# it to "Reply-To") to force replies
# to go to the list

Thanks for the thoughts on my original post (copy below), but I probably
wasn't clear. Although my host (who is extremely helpful) pre-loaded SL, I do
have access to the files to make any changes. Admittedly, host-guy does not
know everything about the program which is why I am seeking help here. Also,
I did read the FAQ's but understanding is not coming as easy as I had hoped.
My main questions are:
1. Should my list be newsletter, subscriber-only, or moderated?
2. If it's moderated, do the names still automatically subscribe/unsubscribe
or does it require some action on my part?
3. How do I turn off the subscribe requests to my e-mail box? I thought I had
figured it out in the rc.custom file, but only screwed it up.
Has anyone else experienced the proliferation of a virus through a newsletter
list that did not originate on the computer that sent the initial message?
I'm terrified of sending another mailing until I figure this out. Thanks
again for the help.
-----------------------
I am using SmartList provided by my hosting service. I want to allow people
to subscribe/unsubscribe, but I want to be the only one to be able to send
mail to the lits. I am in no way programming oriented though and am having
problems. When I first set up the list, it was set (through a web interface)
as "newsletter." My first mailing went out the day Nimda hit and several
thousand people on the list got a virus via my mail (the virus didn't
originate with me), which kept sending and re-sending to everyone. It was a
nightmare. I then set the list to "moderated," but now it doesn't appear that
all names are recording to the list, and I know that unsubscribes are not
working. Plus, I get hundreds of subscribe e-mails in my mailbox each day
that I don't want to see. I've read the documentation, but I'm still
confused. Finally, I need to keep editing the dist file to add lists that
other departments send me -- what does everyone use to do this? Can anyone,
please, oh please, help me out? Janice

I'm not sure I applied the patch correctly as my test list does not
seem to be working properly with two maintainers.
Can you please let me know what needs to be done with the
patch? I just copied and pasted it into the file at a point that
seemed OK, but maybe it was not - is there a best place to put it?
Or do I need to modify something already there?
TIA

Turn 5 $1 Bills into $111,110 at PayPal! Who Won't?
I will! You can too! For just five bucks and 5 minutes!
Just $5 and 5 minutes is all it takes to create a
HUGE income in your PayPal account over
and over again for as long as you want.
With all the scams on the Internet why
not by-pass those scam artists and
make money through email?
We all want a surefire method to make
money and this program is designed
perfectly as $1 to FIVE people
is very low cost and not even worth
cheating and it WORKS!
(Besides, if someone tries to cheat they
only lower the income results for themselves!)
Here are the simple instructions:
1) Goto your PayPal account and send $1 to each of the (5) PayPal accounts
below: and write in the subject line "Please Add Me To Your Mailing List"
If You don't have a PayPal Account, click here and set one up.
https://www.paypal.com/refer/pal=Geomic9@aol.com
We are just starting!
1. Geomic9(a)aol.com
2. clouds23(a)univision.com
3. lmck55(a)hotmail.com
4. lcsummit(a)iglide.net
5. marlene(a)cnl.com.au
REMOVE #5 from the list, Move the other 4
accounts Down ONE position, Add your PayPal
account to the TOP of the list and renumber #1
to #5,...#4 is now #5,
#3 is now #4, #2 is now #3, #1 is now #2, and
YOU are #1, very easy to do.
3) Now Just send this out to 10 responsible people!
Here is what happens:
Level#1 You get 10 = 10x$1 = $10
Level#2 Those 10 get 10 = 100x$1 = $100
Level#3 Those 100 get 10 = 1,000x$1 = $1000
Level#4 Those 1,000 get 10 = 10,000x$1 = $10,000
Level#5 Those 10,000 get 10 = 100,000x$1 =$100,000
When Your name reaches level 5 you will make $111,110
Like I said, the cost is so LOW, that it isn't even
worth cheating so honesty will make us all $111,110
richer and you could do this over and over again.
This Is by far the best email MLM program.
Get A PayPal account in 2 minutes here:

This Is a chance for everyone with a PayPal account to come together for a
common cause and that is to make BIG money? How does that sound to you?
Good Luck
Last Saturday Nov 3, I got brave and decided to try my hand
at sending an HTML formated email to my list. For starters
I created a list with only my email address on it and sent
my email. Within a few minutes I received it confirming I
could send and receive an HTML formated email (file
size=16K) using Smartlist. I then sent the same email to my
regular list of 2000 names. I have my own email address
half way through the list and at the end of the list. I
received the HTML formated email at the email address that
was half way through the list but I have never received the
HTML formated email at the email address at the bottom of
the list. Everyday I send a text formated email to the same
list ( of about the same file size) and receive it at both
email addresses. What happened to the HTML Email? Any
ideas?
Alan,
My list is running as a news letter
How can I get it to stop sending a digest
out to every one on the list.It should only
come to me.
I set the #undigested_list =
#digest_flag
##digest_flag = yes # uncomment this if you want digests
#digest_age = 262144 # maximum age of a digest in seconds
#digest_size = 32768 # maximum size of a digest in bytes
#undigested_list = listname(a)mainejobsearch.com # Reply-To: address
for digests
#moderator_PASSWORD = # put the optional password for
But everyone is still getting the List.
