SUBMISSION OF PAPERS: Please regard this as General Guidelines. Prospective authors are invited to submit their draft paper (about 5 pages - single space, font size of 10 to 12) to H. R. Arabnia by Feb. 16, 2005. E-mail submissions in MS document or PDF formats are preferable (Fax or postal submissions are also acceptable.) The chair may be forwarding the papers to respective conference chairs/committees/Task Forces. The length of the Camera-Ready papers (if accepted) will be limited to 7 (IEEE style) pages. Papers must not have been previously published or currently submitted for publication elsewhere. The first page of the draft paper should include: title of the paper, name, affiliation, postal address, E-mail address, telephone number, & Fax number for each author. This hotel has many recreational attractions, including: waterfalls, spa, pools & kiddie pools, sunning decks, Easy River water ride, wave pool with cascades, lighted tennis courts, health spa (with workout equipment, whirlpool, sauna, ...), arcade virtual reality game rooms, nightly shows, snack bars, a number of restaurants, shopping area, bars, ... DCOSS is motivated by the successful ALGOSENSORS '04 (Algorithmic aspects of wireless sensor networks) workshop, which was co-located with ICALP and LICS in Finland on 16 July, 2004. While the scope of ALGOSENSORS was focused on algorithms for wireless sensor networks, DCOSS '05 is intended to cover several aspects of distributed computing in sensor systems such as high level abstractions, computational models, systematic design methodologies, algorithms, analysis and applications. The conference will provide a forum for researchers and practitioners to present their contributions related to the above high-level aspects of distributed sensor systems. In addition to contributed papers, the meeting will also include keynote addresses by leading researchers, a panel discussion, and a poster/presentation session. Such systems allow intelligent dense monitoring of physical environments, which makes them immensely useful for data collection and analysis. While much ongoing research has addressed networking, communication and low-level self-configuration issues in such systems, there are also significant challenges pertaining to systematic design, algorithm development and analysis, and abstract modeling in order to achieve efficient and robust realizations of large-scale distributed sensor systems. The large number of sensor devices involved, severe power, computational and memory limitations, resource heterogeneity, dense deployment and frequent failures pose novel challenges to design, algorithms, analysis and implementation. The focus of the conference is on distributed computing issues in large-scale networked sensor systems (including algorithms, applications, and systematic design techniques and tools), but networking-related contributions that support high level abstractions are also welcome. Hallo Otto Since we are in the process of revising the event form, maybe we should also look at the legal side of it where the organizer has to sign that he/she has the authority to make legal commitments for the organization. This has caused a problem with networking 2005 and is causing a problem with ONDM 2005. I don't know if other conference organizers have the same problem.. or is it just those I am affiliated with !! We all agree that it is important that we make the organizer's life as easy as possible so that he/she can focus on the conference at hand rather than worry about legal implications. Harry P.

Previous events were held in Paris (France) in 2000, Pisa (Italy) in 2002, and Athens (Greece) in 2004. Based on the success of this biannual event, IFIP TC 6 decided to hold the Networking conference every year starting in 2005. Networking 2005 will take place between May 2 and 6, at the University of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada. The conference is organized by the University of Waterloo and sponsored by the IFIP working groups on Network and Internetwork Architectures (WG 6.2), Performance of Communication Systems (WG 6.3), Wireless Communications (WG 6.8), and Photonic Networking (WG 6.10). --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Call for Papers Formal Methods in System Design Special Issue on Parallel and Distributed Methods in Verification (http://www4.in.tum.de/~leucker/fmsd.html) --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Formal Methods in System Design is seeking original manuscripts for a Special Issue on Parallel and Distributed Methods in Verification, scheduled to be published in February 2006. The growing importance of automated formal verification in industry is driving a growing interest in those aspects which have a direct impact on its applicability to real world problems. One of the main technical challenges is in devising tools that allow to handle large state spaces. Over the last years numerous approaches have been developed. Recently, an increasing interest is in parallelizing and distributing verification techniques. Articles for this special issue are solicited that cover all aspects of parallel and distributed methods and techniques for formal verification. Theoretical results, algorithms and case studies are equally welcome. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to the following: * parallel and distributed model checking * parallel and distributed equivalence checking * parallel and distributed satisfiability checking * slicing and distributing the state space * distributed theorem proving * distributed constraint solving * parallel methods in probabilistic model checking * file systems for distributed transition systems * parallel methods in performance evaluation * tools and case studies * industrial applications To simplify the publication process, we have a two step selection process. Authors willing to submit to this special issues are asked to send an extended abstract of about 4 pages describing the intended contribution. We will then select most promising abstracts and will ask the authors to submit a full version. The full version will then undergo a careful review process according to journal standards. Note that acceptance of the abstract does not guarantee acceptance of the full version. Submitted articles must not have been previously published or currently submitted for journal publication elsewhere.
