Call for Papers for: The Second IEEE Workshop On Embedded Networked Sensors (EmNetS-II) http://www.cse.unsw.edu.au/~emnet/ May 30th-31st 2005, Sydney, Australia The Second IEEE Workshop on Embedded Networked Sensors (EmNetS-II) will bring together researchers working in the broad area of embedded, networked sensors. The goal of the workshop is to promote community-wide discussion of ideas that will influence and foster continued research in the field. The workshop will provide a venue for researchers to present new ideas that have the potential to significantly impact the community in the long term, especially those exploring how practical considerations or novel application scenarios and requirements shape the design of these embedded and sensor networks. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to: * Validation or new architectural approaches for sensor networks * Tradeoffs between application specific, and modular approaches based on prototyping and implementation * Software and architectures for sensor network programmability * Approaches to ease deployment and improve manageability of embedded and sensor networks * Experimental and measurement tools for sensor networks * Reliability and fault-tolerance, debugging and troubleshooting for sensor networks * Novel applications for embedded and sensor networks * Sensor network security, vulnerabilities and defenses * Algorithms, protocols and systems for communication, coordination, data dissemination and storage, sensor tasking and control/actuation * Operational experiences from deployed sensor networks and prototypes * EmNetS-II solicits papers (8 pages or less) about new work in these areas. Papers will be selected based on their originality, technical merit and topical relevance. Extended abstract of 2 pages that highlights recent and on-going research work of 2 pages may be submitted for poster session. The poster session can offer an excellent opportunity for feedback from conferences attendees. Areas of interest are the same as listed in the call for papers. This technological evolution is further inspiring researchers to envision the next generation wireless networking architectures and even the space Internet. Papers Authors are invited to submit full papers presenting new research related to the theory or practice of mobile computing and networking with respect to topics above the physical layer. Accepted papers will be published in the conference proceedings. Papers of particular merit will be proposed for publication in the ACM/Kluwer Wireless Networks (WINET) journal. Challenges Papers The conference strongly encourages the submission of short papers that challenge the research community with revolutionary new approaches, technologies, or applications in the field of mobile computing and wireless networking. These "challenge papers" should provide stimulating ideas or visions that may open up exciting avenues of far-reaching future research. Descriptions of new products or simple evolution of existing work are not appropriate. Challenges Papers will be reviewed and should be submitted using the same submission procedure as full papers. The title of such papers must start with the word "Challenges," i.e., "Challenges: `rest of the title'." Submission Instructions Papers must be no longer than 15 pages (5 pages for Challenges Papers), font size not smaller than 10 points, and must fit properly on U.S. "letter"-sized paper (8.5x11 inches) with reasonable margins. All paper submissions will be handled electronically. Authors should prepare a PDF or PostScript version. Detailed instructions for the paper submission procedure and format will be available on the conference web pages. The deadline for registering the title and the abstract of the paper with our electronic submission system is February 22, 2005, and the deadline for submitting the actual paper is March 1, 2005. All deadlines are 11:59 PM EST. All submitted papers will be judged based on their quality through a double-blind review process, where the identities of the authors are withheld from the reviewers. Authors should not be identifiable by any means from the paper or from the PDF or the Postscript file. The goal EWSN 2005 is to bring together researchers from different backgrounds, from hardware to applications, to create a forum where cross-layer integration, novel solutions for specific problems, and the future development of WSN functionalities can be discussed. POSTER SESSION The poster session enables authors to present their recent and ongoing research in an interactive environment where authors and session participants will be able to discuss and exchange ideas on recent research topics. SUBMISSION DETAILS The submitted papers should be original papers on complete or ongoing recent work that have not been previously published and are not currently under review by another conference or journal. Manuscripts must be formatted according to the IEEE single-space double-column standard conference format, except the font size, which must be 11 pt. The maximum length of the manuscript is 4 pages, including text, figures and references. All submissions must be in PDF or PostScript format, and they should be sent by e-mail to both poster session co-chairs. The submission should also include contact information of the corresponding author. The poster papers will appear in the proceedings of the workshop. E2EMON - CALL FOR PAPERS ------------------------ Workshop on End-to-End Monitoring Techniques and Services (E2EMON) 15th May 2005, Nice-Acropolis, Nice, France http://www.ieee-im.org/e2emon In conjunction with IFIP/IEEE International Symposium on Integrated Network Management (IM2005) E2EMON is a workshop focusing on advances in monitoring technology, and particularly new distributed monitoring techniques for emerging technologies such as Grid, overlay, p2p and Ad hoc networks, and end-to-end path measurements. Dear Colleagues: In preparation for our meeting in Korea I had an action item to review the proposed title change for TC 5 and revisit this subject again in Korea for closure. TC 5 had long deliberations on this subject and we believe that the title INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY APPLICATION best fits as a descriptor for our new AIMS and SCOPE, which have been unanimously approved at our last meeting. So, that indeed is our first choice. If, some of you have passionate objection, then we could live with the title COMPUTING TECHNOLOGY APPLICATION.
