Organizing LC : LC Delft
Workshop: Size does Matter
When: 06.06.2010 - 12.06.2010
Number of participants: 20
Deadline: 2.5.2010

Workshop Size Does Matter
In the first workshop to Delft in two years you will get a great chance in
getting to know Delft, Amsterdam and the rest of the Netherlands. The
Lectures and Excursions will be about the importance of size in Electrical
Engineering. We will visit a High Voltage Lab, a Microelectronics Lab and
join a conference on e-paper. Of course you will learn a lot about the
Dutch and especially the Delft traditions.
When Jun 06, 2010 to Jun 12, 2010
Deadline May 02, 2010 12:00 AM
The TU Delft is one of the oldest western Universities of Technology. The
presence of students definitely left a mark in the historic city. The
city, where famous painters created their masterpieces, now has a
nightlife that is entirely dominated by students. In our workshop we will
go into detail about the Delft student life at one hand, and the
importance of size in electrical engineering on the other.
Draft of the program:
The workshop will be in the week of the 5th till the 10th of June.
During the week you will feel how it is to be a little bit Dutch, get
firsthand experience in our party scene and learn/see some unique things
that only the Netherlands / Delft has to offer.
* On Sunday people are expected to arrive by bus, train or any other
means possible at the hosts. Some lucky participants may get the
chance to be picked up by the ETV board limo.
* On Monday, after the official opening, the participants will have a
chance to get to know our faculty (including the kick-ass research
labs we have). In the afternoon you will go outside and you will see
the history of Delft. Of course this trip ends in one of Delfts
typical cafés were we will teach you how to go Dutch.
* On Tuesday morning we will teach you how to become a Delft student.
You will learn how a student gets around and how to tie a tie. In the
afternoon we will get to take part in the E-Paper conference.
* Wednesday will be all about Amsterdam. We will go there by train,
first have a guided tour and then some free time in the Dutch capital.
* We cannot really say much about the program for Thursday. Some
lectures about the importance of size in Medical Engineering are in
the pipeline. We will, of course, do this in cooperation with our
local EMSA partner.
* Because of the exiting week, on Friday youll have a typical Delft
anti-hangover breakfast, on the roof of our library. In order to relax
some more, we will go to the beach of Scheveningen. On the way there
the tram passes the Peace Palace in The Hague, were the International
Court of Justice is located. To make the week complete, youll get a
change to visit Madurodam, a museum were all famous Dutch landmarks
are rebuild in miniature size so you cant miss anything.

Hello EESTECers,
Those of you who had already taken part in one of LC Belgrade events
know what to expect J . This time, a kind of event that Belgrade
hasn’t organized for a long time – an exchange! No lectures, just
fun, all day long!
The first three days of the exchange will be spent in Belgrade
<http://www.tob.co.yu/eng/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=174&Item…>.
Participants will have the opportunity of getting to know all
beauties and wonders of Belgrade in springtime through interesting
activities during the day and craziest parties during the night!!
Since Belgrade is located on the confluence of two rivers, you will
have the privilege to see it from a different point of view – we
will take you on a boat party! Imagine this – a pleasant cruise on
Danube, a magical view of Belgrade in the night, while getting
wasted on famous and traditional drink of rakija!
After the Belgrade craze and city jam, we’ll escape to the sea-side.
In Čanj, Montenegro, 2000 electrical engineering students who came
for the 50^th traditional Elektrijada
<http://www.elektrijada.com/index.php?id=1&sadrzaj=1&jezik=en> will
be waiting to party all day long! * *Besides the parties, we will
organize an excursion to one of the most beautiful bays of the
Adriatic see, and you are bound to experience a few more surprises!
Naturally, you will have the chance to enjoy traditional Serbian
cuisine, pljeskavica, ajvar and other national dishes!
As this is a very long event and no academic part makes it harder to
do successful fundraising, we may be obligated to introduce a
participation fee of 40€.
What else can we say but try not to miss the chance to be the part
of one of the events that will be remembered for a long time!!!!
Apply now!!

Hello Εestecers!
Well, in about a month it will be May.. So what else will be better than
some sun, some sea, some wine and some... lectures? And where else could
you combine all these together than in Greece? And since our big brother
lc, LC Athens, is still recovering from the COC experience, the only,
yet, the best :-P choice would be... LC Patras!
After a long delay and some unbearable anticipation,"@your Service" is
finally only a few weeks away from happening! The topic will be on
Technolgies at Human's Service and there will be some "lectures" on
robotics, telematics, acoustics and more! What we are trying to achieve
is to avoid boring, looooooong lectures by a projector and some ugly
presentations but to offer as much as possible either the hands-on
experience of interacting with research prototypes or the chance to take
a close look at technologies that our departement is researching on.
But is this gonnna be an all work and no play workshop? Certainly not!
The fun part includes visits to both a technology and a historical
museum, a walk on the famous bridge of Rio and, if weather permits it, a
stroll through the picturesque town of Naupaktos, city rallies, beach
parties, swimming, free wine, souvlaki, parties and more!
So what are you waiting for? There is already* little time left *so
apply as soon as possible!
PS: If everything goes well with our FR, we will be able to raise the
number of participants to 20.
Cheers from sunny Greece,
Iris Diakoumi
