after the limit of 6 messages and I receive header is as follows :
Auto-Submitted: auto-generated (failure)
X-Diagnostic: Mail to divya38(a)mailtoday.com bounced 8 times
X-Diagnostic: Bounces exceed threshold of 6
X-Diagnostic: Not confident enough to autoremove the offending address
68 divya38(a)mailtoday.com 32752 divya38(a)mailtoday.com
X-Diagnostic: Mail coming from a daemon, ignored
I shall appreciate any help or suggestion what I am doing wrong.

I am using Smartlist on my server and when I send email it is archived in the archive directory called "latest". I have set smartlist to archive the latest ten emails that I send to the list. However the latest email sent to the list keeps receiving a numeric name that continues to increase. How can I set up smartlist so that the numeric name for the latest ten emails sent to the list remain named 1 - 10?
Alan,
P.S. This is my second request concerning this question. If I missed someones answer then please forgive me and please repost answer. Tnx!
Is there any way to get smartlist to recognize requests (sent to the
correct request address) which are sent in a MIME message or formatted
text? Messages sent to my lists go Unprocessed if the body conatins an
HTML or richly formatted text.

I'm seeing something strange with my lists and am wondering if there is a
fix. I'm using the script cited in the FAQ to add a short footer to every
message sent to the list. This footer contains information on how to
unsubscribe from the list.
I'm noticing that messages containing stylized text are being forwarded by
the list without the footer. Messages sent in plain text are forwarded
with the footer. Is there a work-around for this (other than blocking
stylized text?)
Thanks,
Irwin
This (my post below) I finally found an answer to in the archives, but now I have a new
question:
If I'm including the
Approved: me(a)mydomain.com
in the first line of the body (for a moderated list), does it only work if I'm sending
email in plain text?
Do we need to send out ALL our list emails plain text?
I think one of the moderators uses AOL set to HTML email.
Thanks!
Lisa

Subject: emails not distributing to dist list (newbie!)
: No idea what kind of information I need to provide. SmartList came with our hosting
: package, along with a web-based interface for basic X-commands (subscribe, view dist
list,
: change to moderated list/newsletter, etc.). The files I have access to (rc.custom,
dist,
: etc.) seem fairly straightforward, so I'm at a loss as to what/where the problem would
be.
: I've read the SmartList manual and FAQ, but...
:
: I've set up the list to be moderated, but emails from both the list maintainer and
: myself - listed in both the 'accept' file and the 'moderators' file - are only
: distributing to us... not the distribution list. The only thing I've read in the FAQ
: (http://www.hardlink.com/Support/Smartlist/) that sounds like a possible problem is:
:
: "From then on all mail that does not contain an "Approved:
: the_address_of_one_of_the_moderators" field is forwarded to all the moderators.
: One of the moderators should then resend the mail to the list after adding an "Approved:
: his_own_address" field to the header ..."
:
: I think we're both using either Outlook Express or MS Outlook to send the emails. Could
: that be the problem?
:
: At a total loss... any help is greatly appreciated!
:
: Thanks!

Is anyone doing anything with integrating OPT-IN subscriptions
into their smartlist environment? The kind where a subscription
request sends a message which must be responded to in order for
the subscription to be approved?
If so, what are you using and how well does it work?
