Correction, the reviewers have the link needed from when I created an
entry for them, see the one that was sent to me. However, if they did
not get the message I was pointing out in the previous mail, we might
point out to them that they can get to their assigned papers by going
back to the link that was sent to them when I created the reviewer
entry. - Chris

Dear C.B. Christian Bischof,
The organizers of the 3rd International Workshop on Automatic Differentiation Tools and Applications workshop in the ICCS 2006 Conference have created a reviewer entry for you
Using the web page below, you may:
1) specify your fields of expertise
2) and view and review papers assigned to you
Please save this URL for later use.

Hello folks, I received this message from Jean, but not the message with
the subject line "[ICCS 2006] review entry creation" that was pointed
to in the text, i.e., as a normal reviewer, I would not know where to
find the paper. Was that also your experience or that of PC members
"close to you"? - Chris

Dear Reviewer,
I send this e-mail on behalf of the organizing committee of the AD workshop
to be held at ICCS 2006. You have volunteered as a reviewer and all
contributions
are now uploaded to the ICCS web site.
You should have received an e-mail with
the subject line:
"[ICCS 2006] review entry creation"
which contains a link to the your individual reviewers page.
If you cannot find this e-mail / link please contact me.
The deadline for submitting all reviews is
*********************
January 19, 2006
*********************
The conference website shows a later date but that leaves
very little time for the authors to incorporate the reviewers suggestions.
Therefore we decided on this date.
Thank you for your participation,

Dear C. Bischof,
We have been troubled by a problem in our upload engine, which has in some,
fairly rare cases caused information on people to be overwritten by that of
others, causing some identity problems.
We have identified and repaired the cause, and have been able to trace and
correct many of the errors in the information on authors and contacts.
Please, check that for your workshops the information on the reviewers is
still correct. If there is an error, you can choose to delete and recreate the
record, or you can correct the personal information.
In some cases, incorrect author personalities may still exist. Look for
implausible combinations of authors, presenters and contacts.
Please, excuse us for the trouble this may have caused you.
Kind regards,
Dick van Albada

Further to my message of Friday I've realised I've used slightly
different wordings for the paper acceptance states than appear on the
conference reviewers' pages. I've amended my message appropriately
below. I've also added some info on getting comments to authors.
Please don't hesitate to contact the organisers at
mailto:org-ad-workshop@lists.rwth-aachen.de
<mailto:org-ad-workshop@lists.rwth-aachen.de>
if you have any other questions.

Further to Jean's earlier message and on behalf of Chris, Uwe, Jean and
myself can I thank you for volunteering to serve on the Program
Committee for the 3rd International Workshop on AD, part of ICCS 2006 in
Reading taking place in May 2007.
If you visit the conference web-server using the reviewer's link you
have been already sent you will see details of the papers we have asked
you to review. Time is tight due to the papers being published in time
for the conference so can I please ask you to stick to the following
schedule.
1) Dec 16th 2006 - referees informed of the 2 or 3 papers they are asked
to review. Each paper is (should be!!) 8 pages long and I hope you will
be able to form an opinion on its suitability for publication fairly
rapidly. One of the organisers will also be assigned as a referee for
the papers you are asked to review and will contact you early in 2007.
Please don't worry if you think you can only referee a restricted part
of a particular paper we have assigned to you - we have combined
referees' expertises in some cases so that all aspects of the paper are
suitably reviewed. If you are unable to review some, or all (please
don't say that!!), of your papers in the time given then please let us
know ASAP so we can accommodate this.
2) By Thursday 19th January 2006 can you please complete a short report
for each paper you are asked to review. In your report PLEASE can you
A) recommend one of: strong accept , accept , marginal or reject
;
B) clearly state any required or recommended corrections to achieve
accept or strong accept states.
This gives the authors a short time to correct their papers before the
Organisers decide whether to accept or reject the paper. We will not
have time for you to approve corrections so you MUST LET US KNOW the
required corrections in your report. If you wish to forward additional
information to the author, e.g. scanned red-penned manuscript, detailed
report in pdf, word, ps format etc, then please forward this to the
workshop organiser (see point 1 above) dealing with that paper.
3) By Jan 31st authors must have sent us revised copies for the
Organisers to approve, using your report recommendations. Camera ready
copies are required by February 10th.
If you wish to contact the organisers for guidance or any other
(related!) matter then please email us at
mailto:org-ad-workshop@lists.rwth-aachen.de
which will direct your mail to all 4 of us so hopefully one will be able
to respond.
So thanks again for agreeing to help in this and we look forward to
receiving your reports, and perhaps seeing you in Reading in May.
Happy reading and Happy Christmas

Hi,
AFAICT the only way to access the individual reviewer pages
is via the link sent in the e-mail I mentioned in my mass mailing and
the crucial bit the "authid" string which differs for each reviewer.
I.e. if somebody can't find their e-mail
I think I cannot give them the "authid" string we use for
the organizers page because that allows to view everything.
So, in that case I would have to forward that to the webmasters or
recreate the reviewer's entry. Am I missing something?

Jean,
Just got back to my desk now. I made sure I could check things today
and get out my referees instructions but I wasn't around this morning.
We are running the risk of missing referees going on leave for Xmas
TODAY. Please ask Mike to submit what he has NOW (this minute) and as
soon as it appears on the server then flick the switch. Ask him to email
you an updated version by the time you agreed with him which you can
email to the assigned referees and see if you can add it to the web
site.
Please warn the referees that they will get an update to the paper
withing 24 hours.
We really must get the referees going this side of the weekend.

Hi,
I know Chris is out of town, somebody at Shrivenham told me that Shaun
is at a meeting and
won't be back in the office before Monday, and I didn't reach Uwe in
his office. Thus feeling
empowered, I fought back a sudden urge of ruthless dictatorship and
instead gracefully granted Mike the
extension to 5pm CST today. At that time I will flip the switches.
If that doesn't trigger e-mails
to be sent I will send out an e-mail to the reviewers today.
Have a nice weekend,
jean

Title: Derivatives by address for Fortran 77
Abstract:
Automatic differentiation tools use 1 of 2 strategies to
access
derivative values. These strategies are:
1) By-address
2) By-name
The by-address method is typically implemented by introducing
structured types for each active scalar type. For example,
scalar type 'real' will have an associated structure type
'active-real'. Using this strategy, all active variables
types are changed to the associated structured type.
On the other hand, the by-name method introduces an
associated
new variable for each active variable. For example, the
derivatives
associated with 'pressure' would be 'd_pressure'.
Since the by-address strategy employs structured types, AD
tools
for Fortran 77 have not employed that strategy. In this
paper, we
show how to use array access to implement the by-address
strategy
for Fortran 77. We discuss the canonicalization issues,
outline our
Adifor3.0 implementation of this technique, and give a few
sample
performance comparisons of the by-address vs the standard
Adifor3.0
by-name.

Dear C. Bischof,
We will be shutting down submissions for the main track of the conference in
the coming few days. If you want authors to be able to submit to your workshop
using our submission engine you should go to your WS management url
http://www.iccs-meeting.org/iccs2006/papers/workshop.php?authid=32WE9ABD973…
and set the following four toggles if you have not already done so:
(1) Override conference settings:
(2) Can users upload files and alter their information?
(3) Can paper authors see the reviews of their papers?
(4) Can reviewers review the papers they have been assigned?
The appropriate settings of the four toggles are:
Now until your submission deadline:
On, on, off, off
During assignment of the papers to the reviewers:

During the review process (until January 24)
On, off, off, on
