TRAIN CHARTER: This year we are chartering a train for our welcome
reception. This train ride will take you through the Kenai fjords
and will include food and drinks. April 24, 6-11 pm. Seats are limited,
and will be given out on the basis of registration date.
CONFERENCE REGISTRATION: The deadline for advance registration
is April 2, 2001 (5pm Eastern Standard Time).

Anchorage Downtown. The Hilton is now completely sold out. The conference
rates at both hotels are the same and the two hotels are within a 5 minute
walking distance of each other.

AIRLINE TICKETS: Please book your flights to Anchorage early, so that

Aachen University of Technology (RWTH); Germany

RWTH Aachen is one of the leading European Universities
of Technology. Located on the border Germany, Belgium,
and the Netherlands, it currently enrols about 28,000 students in
various programmes.
The Faculty of Mathematics, Computer Science, and Natural Sciences
offers the position of a
Full Professor in Computer Science (Chairholder, C4).
We are looking for individuals with proven research and teaching
expertise and experience in one or more of the following areas:
o Internet-based Media
o Management of Multimedia Documents
o Information Retrieval
o Human-Computer Interaction.
The position holder will be expected to teach at graduate and
undergraduate level. Moreover, she/he is expected to coordinate
the interdisciplinary curriculum in 'Technical Communication
and Writing'.
Likewise, we expect cooperation with other university departments
and with industry in form of mutual projects.
Applicants must have an earned doctorate in Computer
Science, Information Systems, or a closely related field,
a proven research record as well as excellent teaching abilities.
Adequate language skills in oral and written German are also required.
Handicapped applicants will be preferred if equally qualified.

The appointment of an IFIP Working Group Chairman is formally made by
the Technical Committee. It is a pleasure to announce that TC6 ratified
the nomination of Raouf Boutaba as the new chairman of WG 6.6, the
former chairman's, Wolfgang Zimmer's maximum time-in-office, having
expired under IFIP rules.
This ratification took place after a search made by a committee of three
(Wolfgang Zimmer, Augusto Casaca and Harry Rudin) and a polling of the
members of WG 6.6.
We congratulate Raouf, thank to the WG 6.6 members for their active
support, and wish WG 6.6 continued success.
