The "What, Where, How, and Why" questions about these technologies interactions is the main theme of the 2002 ElPub conference. ELPUB2002 is the 6th in a series of annual international conferences on Electronic Publishing. The objective of ELPUB2002 is to bring together researchers, managers, developers, and users working on the issues related to electronic publishing for public, scientific and commercial applications. The conference will continue the tradition of the previous conferences which took place in Great Britain in 1997, Hungary in 1998, Sweden in 1999, Russia in 2000 and England in 2001. PROGRAMME The focus is on electronic publishing for academic and industrial purposes and for the general public. There will be two tracks: a general track and a technical track. How to reach Saariselkae

Dear all, I have been asked about how to reach Saariselkae (and where it is located). You can find more information via the Smartnet conference page http://www.lut.fi/~jhyvarin/Smartnet2002.htm but here is a short description. Saariselkae is a small town in the center of Lapland (Northern Finland). It is approxim. 10 or 15 kilometers south of the very small airport of Ivalo (IVL). You might reach Saariselkae also by bus from Rovaniemi but this will need much more time. When we had our first meeting in Saariselkae (it was in March 1992 and it was the first meeting when I was TC6 chairman) we had a really wonderful time there: snow, absolute quieteness, skidoo driving,... It was just great. Thus I can only recommend to attend the meeting. I hope that we a minibus can be provided from the airport to the hotel (such as for the previous meeting) but I suppose that both Friday flights from Helsinki to Ivalo will have several delegates who might also do some taxi sharing. Flights to Ivalo+Saariselkae

Dear Augusto, in the context of my hotel reservation for meeting 1/2002 in Saariselkae (everything is ok now) I have been informed that bookings of flight and hotel rooms should be made as soon as possible since: 1. the first weekend in April is a near Easter holiday weekend and many people will probably go to Ivalo from Helsinki (since there will still be a possibility of cross-country-skiing). 2. The number of flights is limited: Saturday 05APR HEL-IVL > 1 AY 463 HEL IVL dep 1120 arr 1300 > 2 AY 467 HEL IVL dep 2015 arr 2155 Sunday 06APR HEL-IVL > 1 AY 461 HEL IVL dep 0720 arr 0900 > 2 AY 463 HEL IVL dep 1120 arr 1300 (+ some more on Sunday but too late for the meeting). Indeed, since the first Sunday flight is too early for non-Finnish people the only reasonable alternatives are the two Saturday flights (I have booked the late Saturday flight) but these flights risk to become full very soon at least for the discounted ticket classes. Already today the two cheapest ticket classes are not any more available. The ticket price (in my case from Dusseldorf) is now not any more 506 EURO (this was my rate) or 620 EURO but 735 EURO and even this risks to become unavailable soon.
