DANNY GLOVER CURRENTLY SHOOTING IN
CLEMENT VIRGO'S POOR BOY'S GAME TO BE DISTRIBUTED BY SEVILLE INTERNATIONAL
Montreal, June 16, 2006 - Seville International is proud to announce that
principal photography on Clement Virgo's fourth feature film, Poor Boy's
Game, began on June 5, 2006, in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
Poor Boy's Game stars Danny Glover (Saw, Lethal Weapon(s), Manderlay),
Rossif Sutherland (I'm Reed Fish, Monk, ER), Greg Bryk (Shoot 'Em Up,
History of Violence) and Laura Regan (Wes Craven's They, Saving Jessica
Lynch). The film is produced by Damon D'Oliveira, Clement Virgo and Chaz
Thorne under the umbrella of their production companies, Conquering Lion
Pictures and Standing 8 Productions. Poor Boy's Game was written by Chaz
Thorne and Clement Virgo.
"My passion for Poor Boy's Game was sparked by the idea of exploring
tribalism through two characters that choose to step outside of their
respective clans in order to heal a community," said director Clement Virgo.
"This compelling story is a modern-day take on some of my cinematic
favorites of the mid-fifties, the 'classic' American period, like On The
Waterfront, Rebel Without a Cause and East of Eden."
At the age of 17, Donnie (Sutherland), was imprisoned for a violent crime
against a young black man. The system deems him reformed, and releases him
into the same vicious, working class neighbourhood that created him.
Existing parallel to Donnie is George (Glover), the father of Donnie's
victim, who has been silently awaiting the opportunity to take revenge on
the person who severely injured his son. George surprises himself when,
standing face-to-face with his son's attacker, he decides against imposing
his own brand of justice. But, George soon discovers that he is alone in his
need to move on with his life. His wife and the entire community want Donnie
to pay in blood for what they see as an assault against them all. Donnie and
George will learn to see beyond their history to the angry, hurt, loving and
shockingly similar men inside. Poor Boy's Game is an exploration of the
futility of vengeance and the potency of forgiveness.
Poor Boy's Game was produced with the participation of Telefilm Canada, the
Nova Scotia Film Development Corporation, Astral Media The Harold Greenberg
Fund, the Ontario Media Development Corporation, the Canadian Television
Fund created by the Government of Canada and the Canadian Cable Industry,
and in association with the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, The Movie
Network, and Movie Central, A Corus Entertainment Company. The film is
distributed in Canada by Seville Pictures. Seville International is handling
international sales.

celebrate it by inviting the Fespaco Festival, a festival that has worked
for many years to present films from the Francophone community.
To facilitate a rich program of films, we are looking for documentaries,
