IV edizione RIFF - Roma Independent Film Festival 15-22 aprile 2005 Roma, 7 aprile 2005 Con il sostegno dellAssessorato alle Politiche Culturali del Comune di Roma e il contributo dellAssessorato alla Cultura, Spettacolo, Sport e Turismo della Regione Lazio, il Roma Independent Film Festival, inaugura la IV edizione dal 15 al 22 Aprile. La conferenza stampa di presentazione del "RIFF Awards '05", il festival internazionale sulla cinematografia indipendente, avrà luogo mercoledì 13 aprile alle ore 11 nella Sala Pietro da Cortona alla presenza dellAssessore alle politiche culturali del Comune di Roma, Gianni Borgna e dellAmministratore Delegato dellIstituto Luce, lavvocato Luciano Sovena. Saranno presenti allincontro con la stampa Gianluca Curti (produttore) Gianni Minà ( giornalista), Agnese Nano (attrice), Angelo Pasquini (sceneggiatore), Juan Gerard (regista), Daniele Costantini (regista), Francesco Pannofino (attore), Francesco Domineddò (attore), Andrea Vecchiato (regista), Francesco Cabras (regista), Albero Molinari (attore), Federico Greco (regista). Il direttore artistico del festival Fabrizio Ferrari avrà il piacere di illustrare le principali novità del RIFF 05 che aprirà i lavori il giorno 15 aprile presso il cinema Olimpia con il tributo del Festival ai 70 anni della Scuola nazionale di cinema e con la proiezione in anteprima nazionale del lungometraggio Omagh di Pete Travis, con Gerard McSorley e Michèle Forbes che riceverà la menzione speciale RIFF 2005 per la miglior opera di impegno civile. Il RIFF, inoltre, si riserba una dedica speciale allattore americano Harvey Keitel con la proiezione, in anteprima nazionale, del film Cuba Libre del regista Juan Gerard sulla mitica figura del CHE Guevara. Ma non è lunica chicca in serbo al festival: viene istituito, infatti, dallIstituto Luce, su iniziativa dellAmministratore Delegato Luciano Sovena, un premio che garantirà al vincitore della sezione cortometraggi RIFF luscita in sala. Appuntamento giovedi 21 Aprile alle 20.00 al Cinema Olimpia con la seconda importante opera di Daniele Costantini I fatti della banda della Magliana. Confermata anche questanno la collaborazione con Grandi Stazioni: presso Mezzanino Giallo della Stazione Termini avranno, infatti luogo alcuni importanti incontri come quello sulla censura e sui diritti umani. Nel corso del festival, che vanta numerose anteprime mondiali ed europee selezionate tra le oltre 800 pellicole pervenute al Festival, verrà consegnato al regista Paolo Sorrentino il premio Nuove Visioni per il suo impegno creativo nel campo della cinematografia. IV edition RIFF - Roma Independent Film Festival 15-22 April 2005 Rome, April 7 2005 The Rome Independent Film Festival presents its fourth edition from 15 to 22 April. The press conference for the "RIFF Awards '05" will take place on Wednesday, 13 April at 11.00, in the Sala Pietro da Cortona (Campidoglio). The conference will be held in the presence of the Cultural Representative of the Municipality of Rome, Gianni Borgna, and of the Istituto Luce Managing Director, lawyer Luciano Sovena. Other participants will be Gianluca Curti (producer) Gianni Minà (journalist), Agnese Nano (actress), Angelo Pasquini (screenwriter), Juan Gerard (director), Daniele Costantini (director). The Festivals art director Fabrizio Ferrari will be pleased to illustrate the main innovations of RIFF 05. April 15 will be the Festivals opening night. The festival will take place at Cinema Olimpia and it will start with a tribute to the Scuola Nazionale di Cinema, on the occasion of its 70th birthday and with the screening of Italian premiere Omagh by Pete Travis, with Gerard McSorley and Michèle Forbes; the feature film will receive the RIFF 2005 Special Prize for the best social film. RIFF will also present a special dedication to American actor Harvey Keitel, with the screening of the Italian premiere of Cuba Libre, a film by director Juan Gerard on legendary Che Guevara. But the festival also has many other treats for cinema lovers: thanks to an idea by its Managing Director Luciano Sovena, the Istituto Luce will guarantee the release in the theatres of the Short Film Section Winner. On Thursday 21 April at 10:00 pm, we are all invited to the Cinema Olimpia for an important appointment: the screening of the second important work by director Daniele Costantini, I fatti della banda della Magliana. Among the most important events, we would like to point out the one on censorship and human rights. During the festival, which will show world and european premieres selected among over 800 films received, the RIFF will give the RIFF New Visions award to director Paolo Sorrentino for his great creative work.
