Veranstaltungen

Wir freuen uns, den dritten Teil des FDM II Moduls ankündigen zu können! Markieren Sie sich den 6. Dezember 2023 in Ihrem Kalender und verpassen Sie nicht, wie eine automatisierte (Meta-)Datenübertragung nach Coscine funktioniert. Der Tag der Forschungsdaten am 14. November 2023 war ein voller Erfolg! Nicht nur am digitalen, standortübergreifenden Vormittagsprogramm war Coscine Teil der Veranstaltung, sondern wurde auch im Nachmittagsprogramm im SuperC der RWTH Aachen am Posterstand von zahlreichen Interessierten aufgesucht. Wir danken allen Teilnehmenden und Interessierten für ihr Feedback und die spannenden Diskussionen, die sich ergeben haben. Ein weiteres Highlight war der NHR4CES Workshop zum datengetriebenen Gesundheitswesen am 21. November 2023. Ziel war es aufzuzeigen, wie Forschende Datenmanagement und die Visualisierung von Forschungsdaten bewältigen. Der Workshop bot den Teilnehmenden die Möglichkeit, Ideen auszutauschen und gemeinsam Lösungen zu entwickeln. In diesem Kontext wurde auch Coscine in zwei Vorträgen vorgestellt. Einerseits von Marcel Nellesen mit grundlegenden Informationen und einer Live-Demo der Plattform. Andererseits wurden konkrete Verwendungsmöglichkeiten von Coscine im Forschungsalltag im Labor für Quantitative Zelldynamik und Translationale Systembiologie der Uniklinik RWTH Aachen präsentiert (https://www.nhr4ces.de/data-driven-healthcare-leveraging-visualization-and-d...).

API Clients

Nach dem erfolgreichen Update auf die neue API-Version möchten wir gerne auf die Nutzung von API Clients aufmerksam machen. Mithilfe von Swagger können API Clients erstellt werden, mit denen Sie die Coscine API in einer Vielzahl von Programmiersprachen nutzen können. Hierfür muss die Swagger Spezifikation zur API heruntergeladen, die gewünschte Programmiersprache (z.B. Python) ausgewählt werden und anschließend können die entsprechenden Clients erstellt werden. Weiterführende Informationen finden Sie in der Dokumentation des Projekts (https://swagger.io/docs/open-source-tools/swagger-codegen/). Dadurch können eigene API Anwendungen erstellt und an die individuellen Bedürfnisse angepasst werden, z.B. wenn Community Projekte wie das Coscine Python SDK sich für die eigenen Anforderungen nicht als passend herausstellen.

Es wird gerade auch an einer ausführlicheren Dokumentation der Coscine REST-API gearbeitet, sodass die Verwendung bald noch einfacher wird. Bleiben Sie also gespannt!

in this newsletter you can expect exciting topics about past & upcoming events, API clients and a call to the entire community.

Events

We are happy to announce the third part of the RDM II Modul! Mark December 6, 2023 in your calendar and don't miss out on how an automated (meta) data transfer to Coscine works. More information can be found on the Coscine event page (https://about.coscine.de/en/events/).

Research Data Day on November 14, 2023 was a complete success! Coscine was not only part of the digital, cross-location morning program, but was also visited by numerous interested parties at the poster stand in the afternoon program in the SuperC of RWTH Aachen University. We would like to thank all participants and interested parties for their feedback and the exciting discussions that took place. Another highlight was the NHR4CES workshop on data-driven healthcare on November 21, 2023, which aimed to show how researchers manage data management and the visualization of research data. The workshop offered participants the opportunity to exchange ideas and develop solutions together. In this context, Coscine was also presented in two talks. On the one hand, Marcel Nellesen provided basic information and a live demo of the platform. On the other hand, concrete applications of Coscine in everyday research were presented in the Laboratory for Quantitative Cell Dynamics and Translational Systems Biology at RWTH Aachen University Hospital (https://www.nhr4ces.de/data-driven-healthcare-leveraging-visualization-and-d...).

API Clients

Following the successful update to the new API version, we would like to draw your attention to the use of API clients. With the help of Swagger, API clients can be created with which you can use the Coscine API in a variety of programming languages. To do this, you need to download the Swagger specification for the API, select the desired programming language (e.g. Python) and then create the corresponding clients. Further information can be found in the project documentation (https://swagger.io/docs/open-source-tools/swagger-codegen/). This allows you to build your own API applications and adapt them to your individual needs, e.g. if community driven projects like the Coscine Python SDK is not suitable for your own requirements. A more detailed documentation of the Coscine REST API is also currently being worked on, so that it will soon be even easier to use. So stay tuned!
