SpamKiller polls the mail server before my client does and weeds out the spam. Given that, for example, you sent your response e:mail to both the list and to me, I now have two copies. The smartlist directed reply automatically gets accepted because it comes from a "friend". The second copy, or a copy CCd to the list would get put into the SpamKiller accepted mail because of the header information, but it appears there along side other messages which the spam filter couldn't detect, but which are in fact, spam.

As I've said, the smartlist mailing list is the only list out of 6 that I subscribe to which does not put a tag in the subject line, and given the number of e:mail messages that were sent directly to me on this subject, I can only assume that many other people would prefer it as well. But alas, I don't run this list, I only receive its benefits, so I guess I (and everyone else) have to take the coal along with the sugar.
