Liebe Studierende,
aufgrund der aktuellen Entwicklungen hat sich das Rektorat noch einmal mit den Regeln für die anstehende Prüfungsperiode befasst und diese mit allen Prüfungsausschussvorsitzenden abgestimmt. Es handelt sich um Präzisierungen, die zunächst einmal für mehr Klarheit bei allen Beteiligten führen dürften und Ausnahmen bzw. Ersatzangebote auf ein vertretbares Minimum beschränken.
Online-Fernprüfungen
Für alle Online-Fernprüfungen mit Zoom-Beaufsichtigung ist eine schriftliche Einwilligung der Studierenden erforderlich. Die Abgabe der Einwilligungserklärung kann von den angemeldeten Studierenden mit einem zeitlichen Vorlauf von 2 bis 5 Tagen eingefordert werden. Aufgrund besonderer Umstände (z.B. bei sehr großer Anzahl von Teilnehmenden) kann eine längere Frist verlangt werden. Informieren Sie sich daher rechtzeitig über die Frist bei Ihrer Prüfung. Versäumen Sie es, die Einwilligungserklärung rechtzeitig abzugeben, können Sie von der Teilnahme an der Prüfung ausgeschlossen werden. Sie werden in diesem Fall nicht von der Prüfung abgemeldet und es entsteht kein Fehlversuch. Stattdessen wird der Notenvermerk "nicht zugelassen" (NZ) eingetragen. Wir verweisen bei einer Nichtzulassung generell auf den nächsten Prüfungstermin.
Prüfungen in Präsenz
Bei allen Prüfungen in Präsenz bleibt es bei den Forderungen nach Dokumentation der Teilnehmenden einschließlich Telefonnummer, Mindestabstand sowie Maskenpflicht.
Liegt die Inzidenz in der Städteregion oder in NRW über 35 gilt die Maskenpflicht auch am Platz. Außerdem dürfen in diesem Fall nur Personen an der Prüfung teilnehmen, die geimpft, genesen oder getestet (3G) sind. Sofern dieser Fall eintritt, werden Sie per Rundmail informiert.
Wir verweisen in diesem Zusammenhang auf die Bürgertestzentren und können aus organisatorischen Gründen keine Tests vor Ort anbieten. Wie die Kontrolle erfolgt, werden wir in einem separaten Schreiben an alle Lehrenden und Studierenden noch ausführen.
Es sind keine Ersatzangebote für Testverweigerer vorgesehen. Sie werden in diesem Fall nicht von der Prüfung abgemeldet und es entsteht kein Fehlversuch. Stattdessen wird ebenfalls der Notenvermerk "nicht zugelassen" (NZ) eingetragen.
Wir verweisen bei einer Nichtzulassung generell auf den nächsten Prüfungstermin. Wenn durch den Ausschluss von der Prüfung eine besondere Härte eintritt, steht es Ihnen frei, einen Härtefallantrag beim PA zu stellen. Das Rektorat sieht eine bloße Testverweigerung i. Allg. allerdings nicht als wichtigen Grund an.
Gleichzeitig erneuern wir den Appell an die Lehrenden, dass Studierenden mit triftigen Gründen (positiver Test, Quarantäne, Einreisebeschränkungen, Risikogruppe etc.) eine digitale Alternative angeboten werden soll. Dies gilt auch für mündliche Prüfungen. Wenden Sie sich in einem solchen Fall direkt an die bzw. den Prüfenden. Wir bemühen uns, bei Studierenden, die ohne eigenes Verschulden in eine Notlage geraten sind, eine Studienzeitverlängerung zu vermeiden.
Prüfungen im ZuseLab
Hier gelten die bisherigen Regelungen der erweiterten Rückverfolgbarkeit (Sitzplan) ohne Änderungen.
Praktika
Es gelten die gleichen Regeln wie für Prüfungen in Präsenz.
Medizin
Für die Medizin werden die Regeln vom Dekanat der Fakultät 10 beschlossen und bekanntgegeben.
Befragung der Studierenden
An der Evasys-Befragung in der letzten Woche haben ca. 16.200 Studierende teilgenommen. Wenn wir diese Gruppe als repräsentativ ansehen, ist damit zu rechnen, dass fast 90% der Studierenden mindestens eine Impfung erhalten haben. Die Gruppe der Studierenden, die einer Impfung eher skeptisch gegenüberstehen oder sie ablehnen, dürfte bei etwa 8% liegen. Wir erneuern den Appell, dass Sie mit einer Impfung am einfachsten an allen Präsenzangeboten teilnehmen können. Es ist davon auszugehen, dass sich ca. 88% der Studierenden im Wintersemester in Aachen aufhalten werden.
RWTH: Studieren auf dem Campus
Unter diesem Motto soll das Wintersemester verlaufen. Wir wollen nach Möglichkeit Kleingruppen (bis ca. 30 Personen) in Präsenz mit erweiterter Rückverfolgbarkeit durchführen. Je nach Entwicklung der Inzidenz dürften größere Veranstaltungen eher digital ablaufen. Bei Präsenzveranstaltungen sollen die Studierenden des 1. und 3. Semesters Priorität haben, um eine Integration in das Universitätsleben zu erleichtern.
Lernräume
Wir bemühen uns zurzeit intensiv, mehr Lernräume in der Prüfungsphase zur Verfügung zu stellen. Ab der kommenden Woche sollen Seminarräume im C.A.R.L. zur Verfügung stehen.

Dear Students,
In light of current developments and in close coordination with the chairpersons of the examination boards, the Rectorate has updated the rules for the upcoming examination period. The adjustments should, first of all, lead to more clarity for all parties involved. Exceptions and exceptional offers have now been limited to a reasonable minimum.
Remote Exams
All students must consent in writing to being supervised during remote exams held via Zoom. Students who have registered for an exam can be requested to submit their declaration of consent within a period of 2 to 5 days prior to the exam. A longer period of submission may be granted due to exceptional circumstances (e.g. a very large number of participants). For this reason, please get informed on the deadline of submission for the exam in question. The relevant guidelines can be found at https://video.cls.rwth-aachen.de/en/gebrauchsanweisungen/.
If you fail to submit the declaration of consent on time, you may be excluded from taking the exam. In this case, you will not be deregistered from the exam, and the exam will not count as a failed attempt. Instead, the grade entry "not admitted" (NZ) will be entered into the system. Generally, you will then have the opportunity to participate in the next exam date.
In-Person Exams
For all in-person exams, the participant documentation requirements remain in effect, including collecting the participants’ telephone numbers. The minimum distance requirements and the obligation to wear a face mask must be complied with.
Should the 7-day infection rate in Städteregion Aachen or in North Rhine-Westphalia exceed 35, participants also must wear a face mask when seated. If the 7-day incidence in Städteregion Aachen or NRW exceeds 35, only individuals who are fully vaccinated, have recovered from infection, or can present a recent test result may participate in the exam.
For organizational reasons, we cannot offer a COVID-19 testing service on site. Participants are asked to get tested at one of the test centers authorized to carry out rapid COVID-19 tests (“Bürgertestzentren”). We will explain in a separate email to all instructors and students how we will check that the students meet these requirements.
There will be no alternative offers for students who refuse to take a COVID-19 test. You will not be deregistered from the exam in this case, and the exam will not count as a failed attempt. Instead, the grade entry "not admitted" (NZ) will be entered into the system.
In case of non-admission, you generally have the opportunity to take the exam at the next exam date. Should the exclusion from an exam result in any exceptional circumstances for you, you will have the opportunity to submit an application for exceptional circumstances to the Central Examination Office. However, generally, the Rectorate does consider the mere refusal to take a COVID-19 test to be a valid reason.
At the same time, we encourage instructors to offer students who have a valid reason (such as a positive test result, quarantine obligations, problems due to entry restrictions, being in an at-risk group, etc.) the opportunity to take a remote exam. This also applies to oral exams. If you have a valid reason, please get in touch with your instructor. We are making every effort to avoid a situation where students who are subject to exceptional circumstances through no fault of their own are forced to extend their time to degree.
Exams in the ZuseLab
The regulations concerning extended contact traceability (seating plan) continue to apply without changes.
Lab Courses and Practical Training
The regulations for in-person exams also apply to lab courses and practical training.
Faculty of Medicine
The Dean's Office of the Faculty of Medicine is responsible for defining and announcing the regulations for the Medicine and Dentistry degree programs.
Student Survey
Approximately 16,200 students participated in last week's Evasys survey. If we consider this group to be representative of RWTH’s student population, we can assume that almost 90% of students have received at least one vaccination. The group of students who are skeptical of COVID-19 vaccinations or reject them completely is probably around 8%. Again, we encourage you to get fully vaccinated, as this is the easiest way for you to participate in all in-person formats. We assume that about 88% of students will be in Aachen during the winter semester.
RWTH Teaching and Learning on Campus
This is our motto for the winter semester. We want to offer small-group in-person teaching (up to about 30 people) under implementation of extended contact tracing measures, where possible. Given the trend in infection rates, larger courses and lectures are likely to be offered remotely. Students in the first three semesters of study are be prioritized when it comes to in-person teaching, so as to make it easier for them to settle into university life.
Study Spaces
We are currently striving to make more study spaces available during the exam period. Starting next week, seminar rooms should be again available at the C.A.R.L. lecture hall complex.
