Sehr geehrte Damen und Herren,

leider ist die RWTH Aachen aufgrund der aktuellen Entwicklung um die Verbreitung des Coronavirus sowie der Empfehlungen der zuständigen Behörden gezwungen, weitere Maßnahmen zur Eindämmung der Ausbreitung des Virus und zur Entlastung des Gesundheitssystems umzusetzen. Unser Ziel dabei ist es, die weitere Ausbreitung möglichst zu stoppen und die Ausbreitungsgeschwindigkeit zu verlangsamen.

Das Rektorat hat daher nach intensiver Beratung und Abstimmung mit dem AStA mit Wirkung ab einschließlich Samstag , 14.03.2020 folgende Maßnahmen beschlossen:

- Schließung aller zentralen und dezentralen Lern- und Leseräume

- Einstellung des Betriebs des Hochschulsports inklusive des RWTH Gyms

- Absage aller zentralen Veranstaltungen ohne Lehrbezug (Beispiele: Kinderuni, Filmstudio)

- persönliche Beratungsangebote werden überwiegend telefonisch und online angeboten

Die vorstehenden Regelungen gelten zunächst bis einschließlich 10.04.2020.

Darüber hinaus wird derzeit ein Verfahren zur Überprüfung der Notwendigkeit der Durchführung von Veranstaltungen ohne Lehrbezug erarbeitet, welches in Kürze bekannt gegeben wird.

Alle Prüfungen werden weiterhin stattfinden.

Die Maßnahmen orientieren sich an den Empfehlungen des Bundesgesundheitsministeriums und des Robert Koch-Instituts, den Maßgaben des Landes Nordrhein-Westfalen sowie des Krisenstabs der Städteregion Aachen.

Das Rektorat ist sich bewusst, dass die Maßnahmen zu Einschränkungen im Hochschulleben führen werden. Es hält diese Schritte aber für geboten und bittet um Verständnis und Unterstützung.

Den der Hochschule nahestehenden Einrichtungen wird dringend empfohlen, ähnliche Regelungen zu treffen.

Dear Sir or Madam,

Unfortunately, due to current developments surrounding the spread of the coronavirus and in line with the recommendations from the authorities, RWTH Aachen University has now been forced to implement further measures to contain the spread of the virus and relieve the health care system. Our goal is to slow down, and, as far as possible, stop the spread of the virus.

After deliberate consultation and coordination with AStA, the Rectorate has decided on the following measures, which will come into effect from Saturday, March 14, 2020:

- All study and reading rooms will be closed

- All university sports offerings, including the RWTH Gym, will be discontinued

- All events that are not related to teaching (examples: Kinderuni, Filmstudio), will be cancelled

- All personal advisory services will predominantly be offered online and by telephone

The arrangements stated above will initially apply up to and including April 10, 2020.

In addition, the University is currently developing a procedure to assess the necessity of holding events that are not related to teaching, which will be announced shortly.

Please note that all examinations will be held as scheduled.

These measures are based on the recommendations of the German Federal Ministry of Health, the Robert Koch Institute, the regulations of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia, and the Crisis Management Team of the Städteregion Aachen.

The Rectorate is aware that these measures will lead to restrictions in university life. However, it considers these steps necessary and sincerely hopes for your understanding and support.

The University strongly recommends its affiliated institutions impose similar measures.
