Parallel Programming in Computational Engineering and Science (PPCES) 2017
Monday, March 20 - Friday, March 24, 2017
in Aachen, Germany
http://www.itc.rwth-aachen.de/ppces
Introduction:
----------------
This event will continue the tradition of previous annual week-long events
that take place in Aachen every spring since 2001.
Throughout the week, we will cover parallel programming using OpenMP (Monday
and Tuesday) and MPI (Wednesday and Thursday) in Fortran and C / C++ as well
as performance tuning and debugging. Furthermore, we will introduce the
participants to GPGPU programming with OpenACC (Friday). Hands-on exercises
for each topic will be provided, which should not discourage you from
working on your own code.
The topics are presented in a modular way, so that you could pick specific
ones and register for the particular days only, in order to let you invest
your time as efficiently as possible.
Participants:
----------------
Attendees should be comfortable with C/C++ or Fortran programming and
interested in learning more about the technical details of application
tuning and parallelization. The presentations will be given in English.
Costs:
--------
There is no seminar fee. All other costs (e.g. travel, hotel, and
consumption) are at your own expenses.
Location:
------------
IT Center
RWTH Aachen University
Kopernikusstraße 6
Seminar Rooms 3 + 4
Registration and further information:
---------------------------------------------
The seminar rooms are of limited capacity, therefore allocation is on a
first come, first served basis.
Please register separately for each session you would like to attend.
http://www.itc.rwth-aachen.de/ppces
The registration is open now.
The registration deadline is Monday, March 13, 2017.
Hint:
------
This year PPCES will be followed by the 25th VI-HPS Tuning Workshop.
See http://www.vi-hps.org/training/tws/tw25.html for more information.
The workshop organized by Virtual Institute - High Productivity
Supercomputing (VI-HPS) for the German PRACE Advanced Training Centre will
take place at the same location on Monday, March 27 - Friday March 31,
2017. It will:
* give an overview of the VI-HPS programming tools suite
* explain the functionality of individual tools, and how to use them
effectively
* offer hands-on experience and expert assistance using the tools
Both events in a row will give a nice opportunity to get up to speed with
parallel programming and performance analysis.
