Supportstrukturen. Der entsprechende Support erfolgt langfristig über die
etablierten Kanäle des IT Centers: das Dokumentationsportal IT Center Help
[0] sowie das IT-ServiceDesk als erster Ansprechpartner. Das Institute for
Was bedeutet das?
Kooperation des Institute for Automation of Complex Power Systems (ACS) mit

Dear Sir or Madam,
Due to the increasing interest and the great demand in the field of teaching
for JupyterHub within RWTH Aachen University, the JupyterHub will step by
step be transferred from the test phase to the new service RWTHjupyter of
the IT Center.
During the pilot phase of the new service in Q1/Q2 2021, the experience will
be expanded, the operational takeover will take place, and the support
structures will be established. In the long term, the corresponding support
will be provided via the IT Center's established channels: the IT Center
Help documentation portal [0] and the IT-ServiceDesk as the first point of
contact. The Institute for Automation of Complex Power Systems (ACS) of
eon.erc will continue to be available for development and application
support during the pilot phase after a successful test phase. At the same
time, to maintain the innovative character of the test phase, the IT Center
will establish a committee to review and coordinate the implementation of
further features.
As a follow-up step, the transition to regular operation is then planned for
the winter semester of 2021 (Q3 2021).
What does all this mean?
The RWTH JupyterHub was designed in 2019 in a first step in a cooperation of
the Institute for Automation of Complex Power Systems (ACS) with the IT
Center for the application area teaching at RWTH and will be provided in a
test operation for members of RWTH since April 2020.
The provision of the JupyterHub test instance has so far been based on a
division of labor:
While the IT Center provided the necessary server infrastructure as part of
the existing Physical Server Hosting service and provided simple operational
support with corresponding experience, the ACS carried out the deployment of
the JupyterHub software based on this.
During the extension and rebuild of the processes in the pilot phase, the
development and deployment of new features will be put on hold to focus
first on establishing what already exists.
By establishing the RWTHjupyter service at the IT Center, the infrastructure
for Jupyter notebooks for researchers, lecturers and students at RWTH Aachen
University will be made permanent after a successful test phase.
If you have any questions or problems, the colleagues at the IT-ServiceDesk
(servicedesk(a)itc.rwth-aachen.de) will be happy to help you.
