Conferences: * Conferences are becoming of less interest: (Many specialized papers from Ph.D-students. The number of Ph.D.-students are increasing and in many countries it is equired that they during the study have a minimum number of refereed papers). many papers are of limited interest to other people and so the number of participants is closely related to the number of papers/authors. * Customers. Universities: are becoming much more business oriented (innovation, patents,..) Research: privatisation: Operators & companies send far less people to conferences. (Also sponsoring is much less than earlier) * Proceedings published in few copies. It is ridiculous to produce a book which is distributed in 100-200 copies. There are so many conferences and a person is only interested in 1-2 papers which he then download from the Webi or from a CD. By printing on your own printer you get the colours. The pdf-fil includes hyperlinks on the screen. * Competitors: How come that a monkey organisation as WSEAS can make successful conferences, list a large number of journals. (Every week I am invited to give an invited paper ....)? ICCC died, which organization is next? * Do we still have an IFIP secretariat in Wien? I have received (as far as I remember) no mails, printed material or anything else during the last 2-3 years. What is the benefit of an expensive secretariat? (self-contained: organisation for the organisation?) * TC6 mail-exploder: I get more and more mails (usually in two copies or more) via the ifip-tc6 mail exploder. I guess most of them are non-IFIP (but I only read the ones I already know!). Why do we offer same lvevl of service to non-IFIP conferences as to IFIP conferences? The list should be more restricted. * The WG's could be more well-defined and focussed. Two many new conferences instead of using existing series. * TC-members as Villy are too sloppy.
