===================================================
Dear all,
our attendance statistics for meeting 2005/2 has improved: already 21
delegates promised to attend (see attachment).
I'm still waiting for responses from some of you; see below.
We might or should expect some 10 more attendees out of this sublist,
in particular from the different Working Groups(!).
Concerning our meeting location, namely Wroclaw (a really wonderful city,
you'll be delighted!), I found a really interesting comment in my
absolutely favoured travel guide, i.e. the Lonely Planet, who describes
one of Wroclaw's hotels (namely the hotel Monopol - this is not our
hotel for the meeting) as follows:
"Wroclaw's oldest hotel has seen quite a few famous faces in its
century-plus lifetime, not least a certain Herr Hitler,
who used to rant from the balcony during the German occupation."
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
"During the German occupation" of a town who came 1741 to Prussia
after having been in the Habsburg empire for more than two centuries..."
Who said that history can be interpreted differently depending on
the viewpoint of the historian? ;-) ;-) ;-)
Best wishes
Otto

1st International Workshop on Software for Sensor Networks (SensorWare) CFP
***********************************************************
Welcome to the 1st International Workshop on Software for Sensor Networks (SensorWare) to be held on the 8 January 2006. The workshop is held in conjunction with COMSWARE 2006 in the beautiful and historical city of New Delhi.
Advances in technology have made deployment of miniature sensors a realistic proposition. These sensors are low-power, inexpensive, smart devices with multiple on-board sensors, and are connected through wireless links, so as to form a collaborative sensor network to perform a specific task. As a result, it opens up a new paradigm of ubiquitous computing and enables a range of applications that are previously unrealizable or too costly to be realized. However, given the limitation of on-board hardware, one of the key areas towards achieving superior performance is through the software implementation. The workshop is intended for the presentation and discussion of novel algorithms and software implementation for sensor networks. This workshop, intends to bring together engineering experts and academicians to discuss the current status, technical challenges, standards, fundamental issues, and future services and applications in the form of panels and technical presentation.
Topics of interest include but are not limited to the following:
Operating System
Efficient algorithms
Protocol design
Performance analysis
Performance related issues
Sensor applications
Deployment issues and scenarios
Middleware
Sensor security
Sensor network design and modeling

pervasive computing environments. Aggregating sensor nodes into
sophisticated sensing, computational and communication infrastructures
to form wireless sensor networks will have a significant impact on a
wide array of applications ranging from military, to scientific, to
industrial, to health-care, to domestic, establishing ubiquitous
computing that will pervade society and redefine the way in which we
live and work. The goal of this workshop is to provide a forum to
exchange ideas, discuss solutions, and share experiences among
researchers, professionals, and application developers both from
industry and academia. Original papers addressing both theoretical and
practical aspects of sensor networks are solicited. Papers describing
prototype implementations and deployment of sensor networks and systems
are particularly welcome. Topics of interest include but are not
limited to:
- Sensor-based systems and applications
- Operating systems
- Middleware and software tools
- Networking architectures and protocols
- Location and mobility management
- Topology control and time synchronization
- Data gathering, aggregation and dissemination
- Intelligent sensors

Panel proposals:
The organizers encourage scientists and industry leaders to organize dedicated panels dealing with controversial and challenging topics and paradigms.
Panel moderators are asked to identify their guests and manage that their appropriate talk supports timely reach our deadlines.
Moderators must specifically submit an official proposal, indicating their background, panelist names, their affiliation, the topic of the panel, as well as short biographies.
