Dear all,
there are many many events for which there are no formal
Event Request forms - i.e. events
which are not registered in the IFIP Event database.
Eduard Dundler <eduard.dundler(a)ifip.or.at> has now scrutinized all TC reports
submitted at the last TA and GA, and has identified those 'unknown'
events. See annex.
TC6 has by far the most (no less than 19 !!) unknown events.
Please study this list carefully. If your WG 6.x has any events listed,
please contact Eduard and myself URGENTLY to sort out any problems and
misunderstandings.
No payment can be done for these events (wrt student grants, best paper
awards etc.).
Best regards
Otto

Dear all,
please find enclosed the updated information concerning the meeting attendance
for meeting 2005/1 in Toronto (Canada), May 7+8, 2005.
We miss informations about attendancefrom the following countries:
Andorra, Argentina, Denmark, Greece, Netherlands, Oman,
Singapore, Slovenia, Tunisia
and from the following WG chairpersons:
Elie Najm, Ana Pont, Volker Tschammer.
In the case of Augusto Casaca, Raouf Boutaba and Harry Perros I assume that
the attendance is guaranteed since they belong to the steering committee
for Networking 2005.
(Maybe I missed some information; in that case please reconfirm).
WG reports have been received until now only from WG 6.2 and WG 6.8.
Moreover I have added the new delegate's list which has very minor
changes.

Special issue on
Transport Protocols for the Next Generation Networks
http://www710.univ-lyon1.fr/~cpham/ADT-TCP/ADT-TCP.html
New networking technologies with optical-based transmission as a
foundation for achieving tremendous throughput in the order of tens of
Gbit/s are changing the face of the wired Internet with new large scale
high-performance infrastructures such as computational grids. In the
wireless domain, mobility and ubiquitous access to the Internet is
driving the emergence of new value-added applications and exhibiting new
user needs. Self-organizing wireless networks such as ad-hoc networks
may eventually become the natural way of connecting end-users to the
network. In this all-digital, all-connected world, transport protocols
have the very difficult task of providing reliable, fair and efficient
communications to millions of (groups of) users with very different
needs and profiles, across different underlying technologies.
High-speed networks, often referred to as long fat networks, raise the
problem of fair and efficient congestion control mechanisms. Wireless
environments with mobility and ad-hoc features bring new concerns. Fast
heterogeneous networks face all these difficulties. This special issue
is devoted to these problems. We solicit two categories of
contributions: (1) survey papers presenting state-of-the-art studies,
and (2) papers presenting an original and unpublished work or experiment
on, but not limited to, the following topics:
* TCP variants or new transport protocols for high-speed networks
* TCP optimisations and tuning
methodologies, results from real experiments
* New congestion control mechanisms for high-speed networks
* Transport protocols for heterogeneous networks
* Experiments and prototype implementations and lessons learnt
* Multipeer and multicast transport protocols
* Transport protocols in wireless/mobile/ad-hoc environments
* Transport protocols for (near) real-time traffic
* Performance modelling of TCP on high-speed or wireless networks
* Fairness issues in new transport protocols
* Transport protocols in all-optical networking
* Very high-speed transport protocols for computational grids

We invite you to submit a paper that should have a length of 25000-35000
characters. The preferred language for the contribution is english.

A PDF version of your paper should be submitted electronically to one of
the guest editors (see below). Hard copies should be sent only if
electronic submission is absolutely not possible. All submitted papers
must not have been previously published and must not be submitted for
publication elsewhere while they are under consideration.

The Second IEEE Workshop on Embedded Networked Sensors (EmNetS-II)
Carlton Crest Hotel, 169-179 Thomas Street, Sydney, NSW 2000, Australia
The Second IEEE Workshop on Embedded Networked Sensors (EmNetS-II)
will bring together researchers working in the broad area of embedded,
networked sensors. The goal of the workshop is to promote
community-wide discussion of ideas that will influence and foster
continued research in the field. The workshop will provide a venue for
researchers to present new ideas that have the potential to
significantly impact the community in the long term, especially those
exploring how practical considerations or novel application scenarios
and requirements shape the design of these embedded and sensor
networks. This is a very focussed single-track workshop. The workshop
program consists of 17 full papers and 7 posters with many
innovative ideas from leading research groups across the globe.
The highlight of this year's workshop will be a keynote address by
Dr Guru Parulkar, National Science Foundation (NSF) Program Director
(Computer and Network Systems Division).
Please check the conference and workshop URLs for timing information and
further details on the program, accommodation and registration.

SECOND CALL FOR PAPERS
Fifth International Conference on Integrated Formal Methods (IFM)
November 29 - December 2, 2005
Eindhoven, The Netherlands
http://www.win.tue.nl/ifm/
SCOPE
Applying formal methods may involve the modeling of different aspects of a
system that are expressed through different paradigms. This motivates us to
research the combination of different viewpoints upon a system, either by the
creation of hybrid notations, by extending existing notations, by translating
between notations, or by incorporating a wider perspective by innovative use of
an existing notation.
The integration of formal methods has already yielded noteworthy benefits for
systems modeling and software development. Whichever approach is taken,
significant issues arise in areas such as semantic integration, the tractability
of our notations, the integration of tool support, the integration of proof
systems, consistency and completeness. Issues arise equally in our
conceptualization of systems at different levels of abstraction and the
development of these conceptualizations through the process of refinement.
The scope of IFM2005 includes all aspects of integration of different formal
notations, paradigms and tools, and also the formal strengthening of informal
notations (e.g., UML).
The conference also seeks and welcomes contributions in related areas such as:
hybrid systems, the embedding of one formalism within another, and the
integration of formal methods with informal or semi-formal diagrammatic
notations and structuring techniques.
SUBMISSIONS
Submissions should be original work, not published or submitted elsewhere.
Submissions may be up to 20 pages in length and are preferably prepared with
LaTeX. Springer Verlag will publish the conference proceedings in the series
'Lecture Notes in Computer Science', hence submissions must be prepared
according to the LNCS author instructions (see
http://www.springer.de/comp/lncs/authors.html). The first page of the
paper should contain an abstract of the paper, a list of keywords, the
names, affiliations and emails of the authors. The contact authors
should further provide their fax numbers as well as their phone
numbers. The format for submitted papers and final versions is PDF or
PostScript. For final versions, sources will have to be provided as
well (including an RTF file for non-LaTeX papers).
A link to the submission web site will be provided on the conference web site
(http://www.win.tue.nl/ifm/).
