CALL FOR PAPERS
=================================================================
The Second IEEE International Symposium on Pervasive Computing and
Ad Hoc Communications (PCAC-07)
to be held in conjunction with The IEEE 21th International Conference
on Advanced Information Networking and Applications (AINA-07),Niagara
Falls, Canada, May 21-23, 2007
=================================================================
Aims and Scopes
---------------------
Pervasive computing has emerged as a new computing and
communication environment with the aim of providing services
anytime and anywhere for everyone. To facilitate resource sharing
and support group communications, pervasive computing devices
should be able to support ad hoc communications and networking.
With ad hoc communications, seamless and transparent access to
services and applications can be achieved while providing
mechanisms for establishing spontaneous and interactive networking
among communicating entities. Despite considerable progress in
mobile computing and wireless communication technologies, new user
demands and emerging applications introduce challenges in several
areas including security, privacy, processing, auto configuration,
scalability, software infrastructure, communication models and
networking infrastructure. To support flexibility and unlimited
mobility, services and applications should adapt to heterogeneous
networking environment supporting multihop communication in hybrid
wired/wireless environment.
This symposium will bring together researchers and practitioners
from industry and academia to present their current research
results and discuss future trends in pervasive computing and ad
hoc communications.

2ND CALL FOR PAPERS AND PARTICIPATION
First Workshop on Location Based Services for Health Care
http://www.locare.org <http://www.locare.org/>
part of the Pervasive Healthcare Conference 2006
Innsbruck, Austria
28th November, 2006
IMPORTANT DATES
Papers due: July 21, 2006
Notification of Acceptance: August 25, 2006
Camera-ready Manuscripts due: September 14, 2006
Workshop Date: November 28, 2006
AIMS AND OBJECTIVES
Location is an important contextual dimension for ubiquitous computing, and
it is central to the development of many ubiquitous systems.
The problem of location in opened places is well addressed by Global
Positioning System (GPS) technologies, while inference of places from
locations is an opened issue with various interesting approaches being
developed. Indoor location is also a demanding problem and various
approaches are being studied nowadays.
Development of solutions for these issues, showing good precision, accuracy,
and adequacy is of central interest for Location Based Services (LBS). The
area of Health Care is a main target for progress in this area. This
workshop will bring an exciting environment for discussion and presentation
of late breaking developments on all these subjects with emphasis on Health
Care applications. It will comprise the presentations and discussion of
scientific papers, a keynote speech, and a panel session.
Original contributions are solicited in all areas related to LBS and
Healthcare, including but not limited to:
* Technologies and infrastructures for location.
* Inference of place from position.
* Design, implementation and evaluation of location based services.
* Location based services for Health Care scenarios
* Privacy, security and trust issues.
SUBMISSION DETAILS
Ten to fifteen participants will be invited based on a position paper
submitted prior to the workshop. Each position paper should be two to five
pages in length and consist of the author's current research on location
systems and/or location based services for healthcare.
Paper submissions should attach a short text on author's current research
activities, expectations towards the workshop, and a short bio.
Position papers should follow IEEE's conference style two-column format
including figures and references.

Dear all,
the following message was received from Basie von Solms
(see below).
In TC6, too, we have spoken about electronic publishing and
about electronic journal - free for all!
To my knowledge, the business plan (i.e. who would cover the cost)
and the management (i.e. who would run the journal reliably
and for a long time) were much less concrete or nonexisting.
Could I get input from the protagonists of our dreams about how
we might do that (running the system by Google, micropayment,...),
please.
Best regards
Otto
-----------
Message received from Basie von Solms:
Dear TCChairs
At a recent EB meeting, EB requested the following from TC Chairs :
1 A number of TC's have indicated that they intend to start free
electronic journals. EB requests every TC who wants to start such a free
electronic journal to submit a brief bussiness paln on how the journal
will run and managed.
EB is not against such initiatives, but just wants some insight in how
the TC intends to handle the whole issue.
I therefore request any TC who intends to go this route, to submit such
a plan to Eduard for submission to EB.
I appreciate your coopertion on this issue.
2. On The IFIP Website there is a section on experts. Please visit and
add relevant info from your TC as appropriate.
3. As you know, IFIP is creating an archive of all possible material
available. If you have any old info on previous conferences (proceedings
etc) please send that to Eduard.
Thanks
BASIE
