Dear all,
we are always quite upset about the growing number
of no-shows at our conferences.
The following shows that this is not a problem of IFIP alone.
In this case, this a little dubious event charged 185 USD for
a CD-ROM + a promise to review the manuscripts "in most cases"
but of course to include them into the CD-ROM without any obligation
to attend the event (see the two last lines which are marked by an asterisk).
Have fun (or are you shocked?).
Best regards
Otto

Virtual Presentations
Those who are unable to attend the conference in person but wish to
participate in this major international event, virtual presentation is
available. Virtual Presentation allow participants to submit papers for
refereeing and publication in the conference proceedings, just like a
regular paper. Virtual participants will receive a full copy of the
conference proceedings. In 2005 IBIMA conferences, there were more than
100 virtual presentations.
To participate in the conference using this venue, please visit virtual
presentation registration.
The review process for virtual presentations will strictly follow the
review process for regular submissions. Papers will be evaluated for
originality, significance, clarity, and contribution. Each paper will
be exposed to a full blind peer review in most cases. Short papers will
be reviewed by the editor. Summary of review feedback/reports will be
sent back to the author(s) in most cases. All comments and suggestions
should be addressed in the final submission. Papers must not have been
previously published or currently submitted for publication elsewhere.
* Please note that a virtual presentation does not mean you are able to
present by remote (e.g. Internet streaming or teleconferencing).

COMPUTATIONAL METHODS IN SYSTEMS BIOLOGY
18 and 19 October 2006
The Microsoft Research - University of Trento
Centre for Computational and Systems Biology
TRENTO - ITALY
http://www.msr-unitn.unitn.it/events/cmsb06.php
The CMSB (Computational Methods in Systems Biology) conference series was
established in 2003 to help catalyze the convergence of modellers,
physicists, mathematicians, and theoretical computer scientists from fields
such as language design, concurrency theory, program verification, and
molecular biologists, physicians, neuroscientists interested in a
systems-level understanding of cellular physiology and pathology.
CMSB'06 solicits original research articles (including significant
works-in-progress), surveys of current research and posters. These may cover
theoretical or applied contributions that are motivated by a biological
question and can demonstrate either actual or potential usefulness towards
answering that question. They may also cover models of computation inspired
by biological processes; the motivation may be as much computational as
biological. Particularly relevant case studies and open issues from the
biological side that demands modeling of systems are of interest as well.
The introduction of formal models should be supported by theoretical
arguments about the model and/or on the analyses that they enable, by
comparisons with other network models, and/or by examples of representation
and analysis of a biological system.
Topics of interest include:
1. Biological systems and networks: inference, properties, modeling,
dynamics, simulation and reverse engineering
2. Formal methods for drug discovery and design
3. Methods to predict biological network behavior from incomplete
information
4. Models including symbolic evolution and learning
5. Models of Self-assembly
6. Detailed case-studies on how a biological question was successfully
addressed using formal models
7. Emergence of properties in complex biological systems
8. Theoretical comparisons between different formal models of cellular
processes
9. Differential, discrete and/or stochastic modeling-language frameworks
10. Quantitative formal languages

A LICS'06 (and FLoC'06) Affiliated Workshop on
FOUNDATIONS OF COMPUTER SECURITY
and
AUTOMATED REASONING FOR SECURITY PROTOCOL ANALYSIS
Seattle, Washington, August 15-16, 2006
http://www.inf.ethz.ch/~vigano/fcs-arspa06
***********************
*** CALL FOR PAPERS ***
***********************
Submission deadline: May 10, 2006
BACKGROUND, AIM AND SCOPE
=========================
Computer security is an established field of computer science of both
theoretical and practical significance. In recent years, there has been
increasing interest in logic-based foundations for various methods in
computer security, including the formal specification, analysis and
design of security protocols and their applications, the formal
definition of various aspects of security such as access control
mechanisms, mobile code security and denial-of-service attacks, and the
modeling of information flow and its application to confidentiality
policies, system composition, and covert channel analysis.
The workshop FCS-ARSPA'06 is the fusion of two workshops. The workshop
FCS continues a tradition, initiated with the Workshops on Formal
Methods and Security Protocols (FMSP) in 1998 and 1999, then with the
Workshop on Formal Methods and Computer Security (FMCS) in 2000, and
finally with the LICS satellite Workshop on Foundations of Computer
Security (FCS) in 2002 through 2005, of bringing together formal methods
and the security community.
The ARSPA workshop is the third in a series of workshops on Automated
Reasoning for Security Protocol Analysis, bringing together researchers
and practitioners from both the security and the formal methods
communities, from academia and industry, who are working on developing
and applying automated reasoning techniques and tools for the formal
specification and analysis of security protocols. The first two ARSPA
workshops were held as satellite events of IJCAR'04 and of ICALP'05,
respectively.
The aim of the joint workshop FCS-ARSPA'06 is to provide a forum for
continued activity in these areas, to bring computer security
researchers in closer contact with the LICS community, and to give LICS
attendees an opportunity to talk to experts in computer security. We
thus solicit submissions of papers both on mature work and on work in
progress.
We are interested both in new results in theories of computer security
and also in more exploratory presentations that examine open questions
and raise fundamental concerns about existing theories, as well as in
new results on developing and applying automated reasoning techniques
and tools for the formal specification and analysis of security
protocols.
Possible topics include, but are not limited to:
Automated reasoning techniques Access control and resource usage control
Composition issues Authentication
Formal specification Availability and denial of service
Foundations of verification Covert channels
Information flow analysis Confidentiality
Language-based security Integrity and privacy
Logic-based design for Intrusion detection
Program transformation Malicious code
Security models Mobile code
Static analysis Mutual distrust
Statistical methods Privacy
Tools Security policies
Trust management Security protocols
All submissions will be peer-reviewed. Authors of accepted papers must
guarantee that their paper will be presented at the workshop.
SUBMISSION

GENERAL
The integration and adoption of IPv6, also known as the Next Generation
of the Internet Protocol is happening throughout the World at this very
moment. To maintain global competitiveness, governments are mandating,
encouraging or actively supporting the adoption of IPv6 to prepare their
respective economies for the future communication infrastructures.
Business organizations are increasingly mindful of the IPv4 address
space depletion and see within IPv6 a way to solve pressing technical
problems while IPv6 technology continues to evolve beyond IPv4
capabilities. Communications equipment manufacturers and applications
developers are actively integrating IPv6 in their products based on
market demands.
IPv6 continues to represent a fertile area of technology innovation and
investigation. IPv6 is opening the way to new successful research
projects. Leading edge Internet Service Providers are guiding the way to
a new kind of Internet where any-to-any reachability is not a vivid
dream but a notion of reality in production IPv6 networks that have been
commercially deployed. National Research and Educational Networks
together with internationally known hardware vendors, Service Providers
and commercial enterprises have generated a great amount of expertise in
designing, deploying and operating IPv6 networks and services. This
knowledge can be leveraged to accelerate the deployment of the protocol
worldwide.
This workshop brings together globally known IPv6 research and
deployment experts that will share their work and experience. The
audience will hear the latest technological developments in the field
and will be provided with examples of successful IPv6 deployments; it

GENERAL
IPv6, the Next Generation of the Internet Protocol, has seen over the
past three years tremendous activity related to its development,
implementation and deployment. Its importance is unequivocally
recognized by research organizations, businesses and governments
worldwide. To maintain global competitiveness, governments are
mandating, encouraging or actively supporting the adoption of IPv6 to
prepare their respective economies for the future communication
infrastructures. In the United States, government's plans to migrate to

GENERAL
Packet Dynamics refers broadly to measurements, theory and/or models
that describe the time evolution and the associated attributes of
packets, flows or streams of packets in a network. Factors impacting
packet dynamics include cross traffic, architectures of intermediate
nodes (e.g., routers, gateways, and firewalls), complex interaction of
hardware resources and protocols at various levels, as well as
implementations that often involve competing and conflicting
requirements.
Parameters such as packet reordering, delay, jitter and loss that
characterize the delivery of packet streams are at times highly
correlated. Load-balancing at an intermediate node may, for example,
result in out-of-order arrivals and excessive jitter, and network
congestion may manifest as packet losses or large jitter. Out-of-order
arrivals, losses, and jitter in turn may lead to unnecessary
retransmissions in TCP or loss of voice quality in VoIP.
With the growth of the Internet in size, speed and traffic volume,
understanding the impact of underlying network resources and protocols
on packet delivery and application performance has assumed a critical
importance. Measurements and models explaining the variation and
interdependence of delivery characteristics are crucial not only for
efficient operation of networks and network diagnosis, but also for
developing solutions for future networks.
This workshop will provide a forum for interaction among researchers and
practitioners working in the area of packet dynamics. We solicit papers
dealing with all aspects of packet dynamics, including measurements,
characterization, modeling and mitigation of its adverse effects.
TOPICS OF SPECIAL INTEREST (but not limited to)
o Measurement of stream characteristics (reordering, delay,
losses, jitter, etc.)
o Measurement and estimation of network characteristics
o Tools, metrics and benchmarks
o End-to-end packet dynamics
o Timing aspects in packet dynamics
o Impact of load balancing, parallelism within nodes, etc. on
packet dynamics
o QoS mechanisms and their impact on packet dynamics
o Models (e.g., relating protocols, resources and architectures to
packet dynamics)
o Mitigation of adverse effects of reordering, jitter, etc.
o Traffic engineering
o Impact of packet dynamics on application performance

Computing systems including hardware, software, communication
and networks are growing with ever increasing scale and
heterogeneity, and becoming overly complex. Such the complexity
is getting more critical along with ubiquitous permeation of
embedded devices and other pervasive systems. To cope with the
growing and ubiquitous complexity, autonomic computing focuses
on self-manageable computing and communication systems that
perform self-awareness, self-configuration, self-optimization,
self-healing, self-protection and other self-ware operations to
the maximum extent possible without human intervention or guidance.
Any autonomic system must be trustworthy to avoid the risk of
losing control and retain confidence that the system will not fail.
Trust and/or distrust relationships in the Internet and pervasive
infrastructure based global computing exist universally in the
course of dynamic interaction and cooperation of various users,
systems and services. Trusted computing targets computing and
communication systems as well as services that are available,
predictable, traceable, controllable, assessable, sustainable,
dependable, persist-able, security/privacy protect-able, etc.
A series of grand challenges exist to achieve practical
self-manageable autonomic systems with truly trustworthy services.
ATC-06 addresses the most innovative research and development
in these challenging areas and includes all technical aspects
related to autonomic and trusted computing and communication.
ATC-06 as a conference comes out of the First Int'l Workshop on
Trusted and Autonomic Ubiquitous and Embedded Systems
