The 17th International Conference on Deontic Logic and Normative Systems (DEON 2025) will be held June 30 - July 03, 2025 at TU Wien (Vienna, Austria). We happily invite paper submissions and participation at DEON 2025. *About the DEON conference series* The biennial International Conference on Deontic Logic and Normative Systems (DEON) conference series aims at bringing together researchers interested in the formal study of normative concepts, normative reasoning, and normative systems using methods from computer science, artificial intelligence, philosophy, linguistics, mathematics, and law. The series particularly aims at fostering interdisciplinary collaboration that combines methods from these various fields. Topics include but are not limited to the investigation of normative reasoning, concepts, and systems in relation to: - agency and action - argumentation - defeasible reasoning - deontic modals - epistemic reasoning - explainability - knowledge representation - legal reasoning - multi-agent systems - natural language - norm change/revision - philosophy of reasons - policy - preference reasoning - responsibility - social values - temporal reasoning - trustworthy systems We welcome submissions of both theoretical and applied research for DEON 2025, and encourage interdisciplinary work. *Special focus* In addition to the general themes of the DEON conference series, DEON 2025 encourages the submission of papers on the special theme of Normative AI. The central aim of Normative AI is to ensure that AI systems make morally, legally, and socially acceptable decisions. As AI becomes increasingly important to human society, it is crucial to ensure that these technologies have a positive and responsible impact. Workshop proposal: 12 December 2024 Notification: Late January 2025 Workshop programmes: 31 May 2025 FSCD 2025 Workshops: 14 July and 19-20 July 2025 OVERVIEW -------- FSCD 2025 will take place in Birmingham from 14th to 20th July. We invite proposals for workshops on topics of interest to the FSCD community. Proposals should include: - Workshop's name and URL if already available or from previous years. - A short scientific summary and justification of the proposed topic; this should include a discussion of the particular benefits of any topic related to FSCD. - A list of workshop organisers with contact information. - Potential invited speakers (please specify expected number and, if possible, tentative names) - Procedures for selecting presentations (if you plan a call for contributed talks or papers followed by a selection procedure, the submission date should be scheduled after the FSCD notification date, while the notification should take place before the early registration deadline). - Plans for publication, if any (e.g. proceeding, journal special issue, etc.) - Proposed format and agenda (e.g. paper presentations, tutorials, demo sessions). - The proposed duration (1 day or 2 days). - Expected number of participants, providing some data on previous years, if the workshop has already been organised in the past. - Any other relevant information and special wishes regarding the schedule (e.g. specific dates, workshops that should (not) be planned on the same day). Building on two communities, RTA (Rewriting Techniques and Applications) and TLCA (Typed Lambda Calculi and Applications), FSCD embraces their core topics and broadens their scope to closely related areas in logic, models of computation, semantics and verification in new challenging areas. The suggested, but not exclusive, list of topics for submission is: 1. Calculi: - Rewriting systems (string, term, higher-order, nominal, graph, conditional, modulo, infinitary, etc.); - Lambda calculus; - Logics (first-order, higher-order, equational, modal, linear, classical, constructive, etc.); - Proof theory (natural deduction, sequent calculus, proof nets, etc.); - Type theory and logical frameworks; - Homotopy type theory; - Process algebras (synchronous, asynchronous, static and dynamic semantics with and without time, etc.) - Quantum calculi. 2. Methods in Computation and Deduction: - Type systems (polymorphism, dependent, recursive, intersection, session, etc.); - Induction, coinduction; - Matching, unification, completion, orderings; - Strategies (normalisation, completeness, etc.); - Tree automata; - Model building and model checking; - Proof search and theorem proving; - Constraint solving and decision procedures. 3. Semantics: - Operational semantics and abstract machines; - Game Semantics and applications; - Domain theory and categorical models; - Quantitative models (timing, probabilities, etc.); - Quantum computation and emerging models of computation. 4. PUBLICATION ----------- The proceedings will be published as an electronic volume in the Leibniz International Proceedings in Informatics (LIPIcs) of Schloss Dagstuhl. All LIPIcs proceedings are open access. SPECIAL ISSUE ------------- There will be a special issue of Logical Methods in Computer Science of selected papers. More details will be provided later. Submissions can be made in two categories: regular research papers and system descriptions. Please indicate in the submission page in Easychair and in the first page of the paper in which category you are submitting. Regular research papers are limited to 15 pages, excluding references and appendices. They must present original research which is unpublished and not submitted elsewhere. System descriptions are limited to 15 pages, excluding references. Shorter papers are welcome and will be given equal consideration. A system description must present new software tools, or significantly new versions of such tools, in which FSCD topics play an important role. An archive of the code with instructions on how to install and run the tool must be submitted. In addition, a webpage where the system can be experimented with should be provided. One author of each accepted paper is expected to register and present the work in person at the conference. In case that this is not possible for some unforeseen reason, online presentation will be arranged, but in person registration will still be required. BEST PAPER AWARD BY JUNIOR RESEARCHERS -------------------------------------- The programme committee will select a paper in which at least one author is a junior researcher, i.e. either a student or whose PhD award date is less than three years from the first day of the meeting. Dear colleague, As you may know, co-located with FSTTCS 2024 ( https://www.fsttcs.org.in/2024/), IARCS is organizing a Workshop on Research Highlights in Programming Languages (RHPL@FSTTCS). The focus of the workshop will be on all areas of Programming Languages, including but not limited to, Program Analysis and Verification, Applied Formal Methods, and Compilers. 17th NASA Formal Methods Symposium (NFM’25) 11-13 June 2025 Hampton Roads, VA Call for Papers Symposium Theme The widespread use and increasing complexity of mission-critical and safety-critical systems at NASA and in the aerospace industry requires advanced technologies to address their specification, design, verification, validation, and certification. The NASA Formal Methods Symposium is a forum to foster collaboration between theoreticians and practitioners from NASA, other government agencies, academia, and industry, with the goal of identifying challenges and providing solutions towards achieving assurance for such critical systems. The focus of this symposium is on formal techniques for software and system assurance for applications in space, aviation, robotics, and other NASA-relevant critical systems. Topics of Interest * Advances in Formal Methods – Formal verification, model checking, and static analysis; interactive and automated theorem proving; program and specification synthesis, code transformation and generation; run-time verification and test case generation; techniques and algorithms for scaling formal methods; design for verification and correct-by-design techniques; requirements generation, specification, and validation. * Integration of Formal Methods – Use of ML techniques in formal methods; integration of formal methods and software engineering; integration of diverse formal methods techniques; integration of formal methods with simulation, analysis, and test approaches. * Formal Methods in Practice – Experience reports on applications of formal methods in industry; use of formal methods in education; applications of formal methods to concurrent and distributed systems, human-machine systems, autonomous systems, and fault-detection, diagnostics, and prognostics systems. Submission There are two categories of submissions: * Regular papers – Up to 15 pages plus references. Regular papers describe fully developed work and complete results. * Short papers — Up to 6 pages plus references. Short papers describe either novel and publicly available tools, case studies detailing applications of formal methods, or new emerging ideas in the topics of interest. All papers should be in English and describe original work that has not been published or submitted elsewhere. Authors of accepted papers must present their work in person at the conference. NFM prohibits the use of generative AI to create the textual narrative of the paper. However, the use of generative AI to create examples (such as text, tables, graphics, and code) that support the paper is permitted, but this must be disclosed in the paper. Basic word processing systems that recommend and insert replacement text, perform spelling or grammar checks and corrections, or systems that do language translations need not be disclosed in the paper. All submissions will be fully reviewed by at least 3 members of the Program Committee. NFM is currently arranging to publish accepted regular and short papers in the Formal Methods subline of Springer’s Lecture Notes in Computer Science (LNCS). Authors should therefore use the LNCS style formatting described at https://www.springer.com/gp/computer-science/lncs/conference-proceedings-gu…. Papers must be submitted in PDF format through the EasyChair submission site, https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=nfm2025.
