Dear EuroMech 600 participant,

thank you very much for your abstract. We are looking forward to hear about your recent findings at our colloquium. Please read this email thoroughly to receive all important informations.

The list of participants and abstracts is published on the website. It will be constantly updated. The time schedule will come at the end of this week.
http://600.euromech.org/program/scientific-program/

Since the talks will be discussion based, we would like to remind you of the structure of the presentations. Questions can be posed by everybody at any time. Everybody has 30 minutes time for presentation and discussion. The idea is that the discussion takes about 50% of the time. The goal is to learn and understand new things. Therefore we cannot recommend to you to prepare for instance 20 slides. This would be simply too much ...

One important point: To remain in the time schedule, every presentation plus discussion must end on time. This means that you might not have presented all your slides at the end. We hope that you can live with that ... ;). You might find some interested people who further listen to you in the lunch break ;).

Due to the specific format, the chairpersons have much more responsibility than usual. Their task is to initiate and to steer the discussion, also with respect to the thirty minutes time frame. We hope that all professors would be ready to serve as chair ;). We will announce that at the end of the week.

Additionally, in order to give the audience a chance to be well-prepared for the discussions, participants are gently asked to send us (please use euromech600@ifam.rwth-aachen.de) 3-5 slides in a PDF format until Wednesday, March 6. The slides will be made available to all participants. If somebody does not want to send the slides, no problem. Then the audience is less prepared ;).

For those who are interested to explore Aachen and surroundings, we will organize an excursion (no additional cost) on Thursday, March 14 afternoon. Please notify us if you are willing to attend, so that we can plan in advance. Please give us also a hint what you want to see. If there is a clear majority, we can certainly plan accordingly.

Finally, if you have not booked a hotel room yet, you might consider the following ones:

Aquis Grana ****, 100 EUR (very close to cathedral, 15 min walk to lecture room)
Baccara **, 84 EUR (very simple but close, 8 min walk to lecture room)
IBIS Aachen Marschiertor **, 79 EUR (simple, 30 min walk to lecture room)
Innside Aachen ****, 135 EUR (very modern, 15 min walk to lecture room)

There are many more hotels, and Aachen is not a huge city (250000 inhabitants). So, most hotels are in walking distance to the venue. If this turns out to be difficult, please ask us.

We are looking forward to seeing you in Aachen soon.

Best regards,

Stefanie Reese, Peter Hansbo and the organization team
