--- English version below --- Liebe Abonennten, Unser nächstes offenes Treffen ist nächsten Mittwoch um 19:30 Uhr, 15.01.20 im Seminarraum S08 des Hörsaalzentrum C.A.R.L. Immer wieder hört man von Studien, die überraschende, teilweise sich gegenseitig widersprechende Ergebnisse liefern. "Glaub keiner Studie, die du nicht selbst gefälscht hast!", mag da manch eine*r behaupten. Doch muss Fälschung von Studien wirklich der Grund für diese Widersprüche sein? Die Antwort: Nein, es kann passieren, dass zwei methodisch einwandfrei durchgeführte Studien unterschiedliche Ergebnisse liefern. Wie das sein kann und was "eine Studie hat gezeigt" überhaupt genau bedeutet, werden wir am Mittwoch besprechen. Dabei werden wir über Begriffe reden die viele schon gehört haben, aber oft nicht wissen was diese eigentlich genau bedeuten, wie das Signifikanzniveau, der Publication-Bias und P-Hacking. One often hears of studies that deliver surprising, sometimes contradicting results. But does falsification of studies really have to be the reason for these contradictions? The answer: No, it can happen that two studies that are carried out in a methodologically correct manner produce different results. We'll explore how this can be and what "a study has shown" actually means at our next meetup. We will talk about terms that many have heard but often do not know what exactly they mean, such as the level of significance, publication bias and p-hacking.
