Liebe Abonennten,
Lokalgruppe kennen!
Wir freuen uns auf euch!
Viele Grüße,
Tom Lieberum | Effective Altruism Aachen e.V.

Dear subscribers,
Our next open meetup is next Wednesday, at 19:30, December 4th, 2019, in
the seminar room S08 at the lecture center C.A.R.L.
Forecasting plays an important role in the Effective Altruism. But when
looking at the past, what exactly can we tell about the future?
Our lives are dominated by events unpredictable beforehand: the
internet, the financial crisis 2008, 9/11, the invention of penicillin, ...
Black Swans are events that are beyond all previous experience, and are
thus unpredictable but have extremely high impacts.
We look at Nicholas Taleb's arguments, why he considers forecasting as
pseudoscience and how we can nevertheless become robust against randomness.
If you are interested in the topic of the talk or just want to have a
chat about philosophy and rationality, come around and get to know the
local group!
We are looking forward to seeing you there!
Cheers,
Tom Lieberum | Effective Altruism Aachen e.V.

Liebe Abonnenten,
case in EA" anbieten:
'This is the first session of a seminar which explores the foundations
and methods of Effective Altruism (EA). It will be in English.
EA wants to achieve the most good. But what is "good"? We want to look
at the basics of ethical theories and how EA applies to different moral
theories.
We also want to widen our focus and look at the far-future and which
moral implications it has on our actions today.
If we have time, we can look at additional subjects such as the moral
value of information, critical considerations and population ethics.'
Die Treffen sind offen für alle. Also auch wenn ihr noch nie vom
Effektiven Altruismus gehört habt könnt ihr gerne vorbeischauen!
Viele Grüße,
Tom | Effective Altruism Aachen e.V.

Liebe Abonennten,
David Allen stellt in
seinem Buch "Getting Things Done" ein Selbstorganisationssystem vor, das
uns genau dabei helfen soll.
Lokalgruppe kennen!
Wir freuen uns auf euch!
Viele Grüße,
Tom Lieberum | Effective Altruism Aachen e.V.

Dear subscribers,
Our next open meetup is next Wednesday, November 20th, 2019, at 7:30pm
in the seminar room S08 at the lecture center C.A.R.L.
Most of us have constantly a lot of things on their mind, which have to
be done. It is hard to have a good overview over all these things - to
know what needs to happen next, what can wait, and how long-term
projects evolve. David Allen proposes in his book "Getting Things Done"
an organisational system, which helps us with exactly that problem. The
big advantage: It frees up your mind to work productively on the tasks -
but it enables you also to spend more time on things, you actually want
to do. We want to present "Getting Things Done" in a lightning talk, and
discuss it with you.
If you are interested in the topic of the talk or just want to have a
chat about philosophy and rationality, come around and get to know the
local group!
We are looking forward to seeing you there!
Cheers,
